Women in Wine and Sports

California winemakers team up with soccer legends for one-of-a-kind event to support youth sports programs

San Francisco, California (05/12/2021) – In partnership with The Olympic Club Foundation, a non-profit organization supporting athletic programming for low-income youth in the Bay Area, three California winemakers are teaming up with sports icons Brandi Chastain and Aly Wagner for a one-of-a-kind virtual event celebrating women in wine and sports.

Moderated by sports journalist and multimedia producer, Amy “G” Gutierrez, winemakers Kristy Melton (Freemark Abbey), Kristina Shideler (Arrowood Vineyards) and Jill Russell (Cambria) join Chastain and Wagner for a wine tasting and discussion about the value of sports in young lives.

“Wine and sports share a unique ability to bring people together and create connections around the world,” says Aly Wagner. “It’s an honor to come together with this group of women to celebrate these connections and make a difference in supporting the next generation’s access to the power of sports.”

Recognized as global sports figures and role models, Brandi Chastain and Aly Wagner are known for their legacies as college players at Santa Clara University, and their extraordinary careers as members of the United States Women’s National Soccer Team, representing Team USA in the Olympics and the World Cup. Today, they continue their groundbreaking work as broadcasters and businesswomen.

Guests are invited to join the tasting and discussion, taking place on Thursday, May 20th at 6:00 PM PT.
