Chandon Debuts the First Sip of Summer with Naturally Delicious Garden Spritz Innovation

CHANDON Enters Luxury Spritz Category With Elevated Blend of Exceptional Argentinian Sparkling Wine and Handcrafted Orange Bitter Liqueur

Napa Valley, CA, May 2021 – CHANDON, makers of exceptional sparkling wines from unexpected lands across the globe, is excited to announce its first foray into a new category of luxurious ‘ready-to-drink’ sparkling aperitifs with the debut of the CHANDON Garden Spritz. A naturally delicious balance of bubbles, bitters, and botanicals with no artificial flavors or colors, CHANDON Garden Spritz takes CHANDON’s exceptional sparkling wine and adds a unique and sophisticated twist: a delectable house-made ‘Garden liqueur’ authentically handcrafted by CHANDON’s winemaking team in Argentina using locally sourced, handpicked Valencia oranges, fresh herbs, and spices. Ready to serve and share immediately upon popping the cork – ideally chilled over ice with a sliver of fresh orange and a sprig of rosemary – CHANDON Garden Spritz is the perfect first sip of summer for those seeking a masterfully crafted and refined spritz.

“The CHANDON Garden Spritz is a natural extension of the pioneering spirit embedded in CHANDON’s DNA since its founding in Argentina in 1959. We spent four years studying oranges as if they were wine grapes and finally mastered a perfectly authentic, naturally delicious spritz,” says Ana Paula Bartolucci, winemaker at CHANDON Argentina and creator of the CHANDON Garden Spritz. “The CHANDON Garden Spritz is truly summer in a bottle.”

Handcrafted in Mendoza, Argentina, by CHANDON crew of winemakers, CHANDON Garden Spritz was inspired by the well-known Argentinian penchant for the moreish bitter flavors of yerba maté and Fernet – aromas known for tantalizing the palate. Using zest and peels from 2.5 tons of local oranges, all handpicked fresh before becoming imbued with rarefied botanicals, the resulting ‘Garden liqueur” is then blended with premium Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Semillon grapes from the CHANDON estate, yielding a perfect pairing of bubbles and bitters in one refreshing sip.

“CHANDON has a community of winemakers across Argentina, California, Brazil, Australia, China and India, making CHANDON the largest sparkling vineyard worldwide and the only domain on which the sun never sets.” says CHANDON winemaker Pauline Lhote. “We are excited to add this Argentinian born bottle to our portfolio and hope that the CHANDON Garden Spritz opens a world of possibility for CHANDON across our domains.”

In addition to an unwavering commitment to quality, sustainability continues to be at the forefront of all of CHANDON’s sparkling winemaking, including the new CHANDON Garden Spritz. Crafted with ripe Valencia oranges from a pesticide-free, sustainable family farm in Entre Rios, northeastern Argentina, CHANDON Garden Spritz was made with no artificial flavors or colorants. 100 percent of the juice extracted from the oranges was distributed to four nearby schools, serving more than 300 children in the local community during the peeling season. Five tons of orange waste – including seeds, peels and pulp – were used for compost in CHANDON’s sustainably-farmed vineyards.

CHANDON Garden Spritz can be found on shelves at retailers nationwide beginning May 2021 and retails at MSRP $20.99.
