La Crema Announces National Launch of Sonoma County Sauvignon Blanc

Pioneering Russian River Valley Winery Expands Portfolio with New Offering

WINDSOR, Calif. (March 24, 2021) — Acclaimed winery La Crema today announced the national launch of its Sonoma County Sauvignon Blanc. The latest addition to its portfolio, the 2020 Sauvignon Blanc illustrates La Crema’s ongoing exploration of west coast growing regions to produce uniquely expressive and elegant wines. This launch arrives on the heels of a successful year for La Crema, which was named one of the top fifteen growth brands of 2020 by Nielsen.

One of the Russian River Valley’s pioneering wineries since its inception in 1979, La Crema crafted this elegant, vibrant expression from vineyards surrounding the winery’s home in Sonoma County to create a new offering for current and future La Crema consumers. The winery first made its Sauvignon Blanc debut in the summer of 2020 with a regional launch of the 2019 vintage. Priced in the rapidly growing Ultra-Premium Sauvignon Blanc category, the 2019 vintage saw a successful introduction to the market, becoming the tenth largest Domestic Ultra-Premium Sauvignon Blanc in a 12-week period.

“While Sonoma County is famously home to incredible Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, there is much to be discovered in our vast and varied corner of the viticultural world,” says Head Winemaker Craig McAllister. “The climate and soils of northern Sonoma County are ideal for producing world-class Bordeaux varietals, particularly Sauvignon Blanc. This elegant, exotic wine is vibrant and bright but carries enough weight to make it ideal for year-round enjoyment.”

The 2020 La Crema Sonoma County Sauvignon Blanc is sourced from renowned and distinct vineyard sites from warmer sub-regions, including Knights Valley, Alexander Valley, and Dry Creek Valley. Long, warm summer days developed layered, tropical fruit flavors, while evening coastal fog preserved the grapes’ natural acidity. The wine was fermented in a mix of neutral oak barrels and stainless-steel tanks and left on light lees for two to three months for added texture. The final bottling shows vibrant acidity, flavors of ruby grapefruit, nectarine, and gala apple, and a lingering finish.

The 2020 La Crema Sonoma County Sauvignon Blanc ($25 SRP) is available for purchase in stores and online nationwide. To find the wine at a retailer near you, please use the La Crema store locator.
