Wheeler Farms Celebrates Seven 100-Point Wines

Produced at its State-of-the-Art Winery in Napa Valley

SAINT HELENA, CALIF. (March 15, 2021): Wheeler Farms, the historic estate and world-class winemaking facility in Napa Valley, celebrates the recent 100-point scores awarded to four of its winemaking partners. Accendo Cellars, Kinsman Eades, TOR Wines and Vice Versa Wines received 100-point scores from notable wine critics Antonio Galloni of Vinous Media, Lisa Perrotti-Brown of Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate, and Jeb Dunnuck of JebDunnuck.com for their 2018 Napa Valley wines.

In their recently published reports of Napa Valley’s 2018 vintage, Galloni and Dunnuck recognized the following wines with the 100-point score: 2018 Accendo Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon (Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media), 2018 Kinsman Eades Cabernet Sauvignon Rhadamanthus Diamond Mountain District (Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media), 2018 TOR Wines Black Magic (Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media, Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Advocate, and Jeb Dunnuck, JebDunnuck.com), 2018 TOR Wines Pure Magic Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard (Jeb Dunnuck, JebDunnuck.com) and the 2018 Vice Versa Cabernet Sauvignon The Magnificent Seven (Jeb Dunnuck, JebDunnuck.com).

“When we purchased the Wheeler Farms property, our goal was to create a full-service, state-of-the-art custom crush facility, outfitted with the most advanced technology available, allowing the brands who use it the ability to achieve the purest expression of their wines,” said Bart Araujo, co-proprietor of Wheeler Farms. “The recent 100-point scores received by these brands from Galloni and Dunnuck are a testament to that goal being realized.”

“The excellence we, as winemakers, are able to achieve is driven largely by the quality of the fruit we are working with, which speaks to the intrinsic potential of the vineyard and the caliber of the farming, but a premier winemaking facility can introduce incremental differences that truly elevate a wine,” said Nigel Kinsman, winemaker for Accendo Cellars and his personal brand Kinsman Eades. “The ability to execute as if you were in your own facility – to bring in your fruit when you decide it is ready, to crush, manage fermentations, press and bottle when and how you choose to – means fewer compromises. Couple that with the fact that Wheeler’s state-of-the-art facility sits in the very upper echelon of Napa wineries from an operational perspective, and you have a winemaker’s dream brought to life.”

The two-story winery at Wheeler Farms offers its quality-driven winemaking partners, as well as its own J.H. Wheeler winemaking team, the opportunity to produce wine using the most advanced technology available, including a system of computerized and self-contained stainless steel tanks, as well as a crush pad featuring an optical sorter, destemmer and custom-built receiving hopper on the ground level.

“The 2018 J.H. Wheeler Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper Cabernet Sauvignon, which just received 97-points from Galloni for its inaugural vintage, is rare and showcases the potential of quality fruit combined with a quality-driven winemaking facility,” said Kinsman.

Inside the winery at Wheeler Farms, the winemakers can choose as little or as much intervention as they’d like to manage fermentation. They can monitor and control temperatures and pumpovers with precision and ease, freeing up valuable time and resources that can otherwise be dedicated to winemaking decisions. Underground, the wines are aged in the barrel cellars, providing a humidity and temperature-controlled environment with ideal wine-aging conditions.

In addition to its cutting-edge winery, Wheeler Farms is a diversified expression of Napa Valley’s rich agricultural history. Committed to continuing the Wheeler Farms’ legacy established in the 1800s, the owners reimagined the property with more than seven acres of Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc, a heritage fruit tree orchard, olive trees, edible gardens, chickens and bees to reconnect the property with its agricultural and winemaking roots.

The Hospitality House at Wheeler Farms offers tastings by appointment only for a number of its winemaking partners including Accendo Cellars, Kinsman Eades, TOR Wines, Vice Versa and its own J.H. Wheeler Wines. A list of available experiences can be viewed at www.wheelerfarmswine.com/experiences and reservations can be requested at www.wheelerfarmswine.com/reservations or by calling (707) 200-8500.
