San Rafael, Calif. (February 17, 2021) – Whitecliff Wines of New Zealand has added a rosé to its line of wines available in the U.S. for 2021. Owned by one of the top, family-owned wine companies in New Zealand, Whitecliff Wines has enjoyed strong distribution growth since it debuted in the U.S. in the spring of 2020. Palmateer Wine Group of San Rafael, California, handles U.S. sales and marketing for Whitecliff Wines.

The new Whitecliff Rosé ($14), from the 2020 vintage, comes from premium estate vineyards in the Hawke’s Bay region of New Zealand and is made primarily from Merlot. Whitecliff owner David Mason has extensive vineyard holdings in Hawke’s Bay as well as Marlborough, where he grows Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir.

“This is a very vibrant rosé with wonderful richness and an approachable style,” noted winemaker Kel Dixon. “We have some outstanding estate vineyards in Hawke’s Bay, which give us exceptional fruit to work with. The Whitecliff Rosé is a classic New Zealand wine – beautifully balanced with pure flavors and an excellent value.”

Whitecliff was founded in 1990 and is named for the dramatic white cliffs along the river that borders the original vineyard site on the family estate. The Mason family has more than 1,700 acres of vineyards in Hawke’s Bay and Marlborough, and their extensive knowledge and experience with each vineyard ensures consistent quality. Whitecliff Wines launched in the U.S. last year with a Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir and now has distribution in more than 20 states.
