Peter Devison Joins Goose Ridge Estate Vineyards & Winery as Consulting Winemaker

Benton City, WA – November 18, 2020 – Family owned and operated Goose Ridge Estate Vineyards & Winery announced today that Peter Devison, 16-year Washington state winemaking veteran, has joined the team as consulting winemaker for g3, Cascadian and Goose Ridge Estate wine programs. Devison will work closely with the Monson family and Andrew Wilson, Director of Winemaking.

“This is an exciting time at Goose Ridge and we’ve already hit the ground running to execute a renewed vision for our wine program,” said Andrew Wilson, Director of Winemaking. “His passion and rich experience working with esteemed vineyards throughout Washington brings a welcomed perspective and energy to the cellar.”

Peter Devison joins Goose Ridge with 20 harvests under his belt, of those 16 were in Washington. Working as a winemaker with renowned Washington brands has resulted in positive recognition and accolades for his unique approach, artistry and philosophy in winemaking, including a focus on native fermentation. “I’m impressed by what the Monsons have cultivated in Columbia Valley. Their 2,200 acres of estate vineyards enable the winemaking team to create wines that truly reflect the varying and distinct terroir throughout the property. The Monsons have a story to tell, and I’m excited to be working alongside Andrew, his team and the Monson family, sharing in their commitment to make great Washington wines,” said Peter Devison.

Born and raised in Halifax, Canada, Peter worked his way through the University of British Columbia running wine programs and stocking wine shelves, all the while discovering a passion for sampling fine wines and learning the art of pairing complex notes with various cuisines. Upon completion of the many wine certification courses available in Vancouver, Peter ventured to Lincoln University in Christchurch, New Zealand where he studied enology and viticulture. After working harvests in New Zealand and Australia, Peter arrived in eastern Washington for the 2004 harvest. He quickly saw the vast potential and quality in wine growing and committed to making Washington home.

In related news, Goose Ridge Estate Vineyard & Winery announced last month its partnership with Napa Valley’s Roots Run Deep Winery to create a new Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, Truth Be Told. Andrew Wilson and Peter Devison will work closely with Roots Run Deep winemaker Macario Montoya as they create a Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon made with discerning value-driven Cabernet consumers in mind. Goose Ridge’s Destination Brands will work in tandem with Roots Run Deep to support the national retail launch.
