Terlato Wine Group Promotes Gaspar Roby Vice President, Winemaking & Viticulture

NAPA, CA (August 25, 2020) – Established in 1947, fourth generation family owned and operated Terlato Wine Group today announced the promotion of Gaspar Roby to the critical role of Vice President, Winemaking and Viticulture. Prior to the appointment, Roby was Terlato’s Director of Viticulture, responsible for all technical, operational and financial aspects of more than 350 acres of family owned vineyards in Napa Valley and Red Mountain, Washington.

Sandra LeDrew, President and Chief Operating Officer of Terlato Wine Group said, “I have had the pleasure of working with Gaspar in the past and I’m delighted he accepted this position.  In the short time that Gaspar has been with us, he has demonstrated that he is a resilient leader who inspires and motivates others for success.  He is a consummate professional with a deep passion and respect for wine and has a proven track record of transforming operations while at the same time driving performance and quality improvement.”

Prior to joining Terlato Wine Group, Roby’s vast experience includes Vice President of Operations for Advanced Beverage Technologies, General Manager for Beaulieu Vineyard and Provenance Vineyards (Treasury Wine Estates) Director of Winemaking and Operations at Navarro Correas Winery (Diageo Latin America) in Argentina and Vineyard Operations Manager for Beckstoffer Vineyards.

When asked about his new role at Terlato, Roby said, “I first came to work with the Terlato family because I share their passion for winegrowing and sustainable farming and their belief that all great wine starts in the vineyard.  Tony Terlato’s mantra has always been “only quality endures” which I believe is an accurate guiding principle for the creation of truly outstanding wines. I feel privileged to work with Tony’s sons, Bill and John, to carry on the legacy of their legendary father.  In my new role I will aim at inspiring the winery and vineyard teams not only to create highly acclaimed wines, among the best in the world, but also to innovate and follow the road of continuous improvement to grow the business.”

Roby, a native of Argentina, holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Universidad Nacional de Cuyo in Mendoza where he graduated with honors, is a Fulbright scholar and a graduate of the UC Davis Master of Science in Horticulture and Agronomy program.  Roby will report directly to Sandra LeDrew and will be a member of the Winery Leadership Team.
