The eleven-part program will cover topics including terroir, winemaking and the ten Crus that comprise the renowned region

QuintessentialNAPA, CA (July 29, 2020)—Fine wine importer Quintessential, in partnership with Les Vins Georges Duboeuf, announces a new 11-part Beaujolais video series hosted by Doug Frost MS, MW, featuring some of the industry’s most distinguished experts on the region. Fellow Masters of Wine and Master Sommeliers will join Frost to discuss the area’s history, terroir, winemaking processes, the ten Crus and the changing public perception of Beaujolais. Frost will also be joined by the global ambassador to Les Vins Georges Duboeuf to discuss the family’s legacy and the worldwide impact Georges has had on the region’s wines and notoriety.  The entire series premieres today on Quintessential’s YouTube Channel and Georges Duboeuf’s Facebook page.

“My first experiences of high quality Cru Beaujolais were from Georges Duboeuf,” commented Frost.  “And as much as there is great interest now in high quality Beaujolais, I think that many aren’t aware of the character, beauty and, importantly, diversity among Duboeuf’s many offerings. These wines each reflect their origins and bear no resemblance to the popular caricature of simple Beaujolais. These are serious if often quaffable wines.”

Frost is one of only four people in the world to hold the titles of both Master Sommelier and Master of Wine. Over the course of an illustrious career ignited by an early introduction to the vast and intriguing world of wine, Frost has become one of the most highly recognized and regarded names in the industry.

“Doug is a passionate storyteller and a self-proclaimed Cru Beaujolais addict, so we were very honored to work with him on this project,” remarked Franck Duboeuf, CEO of Les Vins Georges Duboeuf. “Our goal in creating these informative videos is to advance the discussion of Beaujolais among sommeliers and wine retailers and to give them the tools they need to speak about our wines with confidence.”

Throughout the video series, the Kansas City-based wine consultant and writer will offer his distinctive take on the Beaujolais region, the wines, and the people who make them. The series will also feature the perspectives and experiences of other Master Sommeliers and Masters of Wine, and will finish with an interview with Romain Teyteau, Export Director and Global Ambassador for Les Vins Georges Duboeuf.

The episodes include:

  1. Introduction to Beaujolais
  2. The Regions of Beaujolais (Interview with Bob Bath MS)
  3. The Soils of Beaujolais (Interview with Wayne Belding MS)
