About Fort Ross Vineyard & Winery

Located in the Fort Ross-Seaview AVA on the extreme Sonoma Coast, Fort Ross Vineyard was first planted by founders Lester and Linda Schwartz in 1998. 2020 marks the 20th Anniversary of their first bottling. Their 53-acre vineyard is planted across a series of ridges at high elevations, and its location, just a mile from the Pacific Ocean makes it the closest vineyard in California. This site has proven ideal for Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and even a small block of Pinotage. Under the direction of longtime winemaker Jeff Pisoni, Fort Ross Vineyard & Winery makes a series of estate Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays that reflect a minimalistic approach to winemaking and allows the influence of this unique vineyard to shine through. In 2017, Fort Ross Winery introduced the SEA SLOPES brand, intended to capture the essence of the Sonoma Coast. This tier of wine is at once approachable, elegant and eminently worthy of the high quality standards that are the hallmark of Fort Ross Vineyard & Winery.  SEA SLOPES Chardonnay and Pinot Noir are produced for broader national distribution.
