Lood Kotze Brings Innovative Ideas to Texas Wine Leader

Lood KotzeDALLAS, TX (May 8, 2020) – Reddy Vineyards, the early pioneers of Texas grape growers, announced today a new addition to fill the role of Executive Winemaker and Viticulturist, Lood Kotze. Not only does Kotze bring his 16 years of passion and experience to the Reddy Vineyards estates, but he also is excited to explore the Texas High Plains and what the region has to offer.

“I’ve been interested in working in this wine region for a while,” said Lood Kotze. “I am excited to become a part of this long-standing Texas grape growing operation and to contribute to their continued success as a premium wine producer.”

Born and raised in South Africa, near Cape Town, Kotze pursued his passion for wine studying Viticulture and Enology at the University of Stellenbosch. Throughout his 16 years in the industry, Kotze has had numerous wines receive 90+ ratings and best-of-show awards and is a regular speaker at tasting panels and a certified wine judge. He joins the Reddy team after previously being the production manager at a large custom crush winery in Sonoma, California.

“We’re continually working to produce the best wine, and grapes, that Texas has to offer,” said Akhil Reddy. “We’re thrilled to bring Lood’s knowledge, expertise and experience to our family owned and operated team to explore and experiment with various varietals and styles.”

When asked about his favorite Reddy Vineyard wine, Kotze says, “it changes, but right now I’m really enjoying the 2017 Dyer Red Blend.” Visit Reddy Vineyards at www.reddyvineyards.com to browse their selection of reds, white, rosés, and reserve wines.
