New Winery Seminars and Educational Events Scheduled Presidents’ Wine Weekend in Calaveras Wine Country

The 24th Annual “Presidents’ Wine Weekend” event opens the doors to discovering new wines, winery seminars and special events in historical towns of the Sierra Foothills

[Murphys, CA, January 30, 2020—] The Calaveras Winegrape Alliance is set to host the 24th Annual Presidents’ Wine Weekend on February 15th and 16th 2020 from 11:00 to 5:00 each day. Nestled in a beautiful landscape, at the base of the Sierra Foothills, and a 90 minute drive from the Bay Area, Calaveras Wine Country is the perfect one-stop wine and adventure wonderland.

New this year! The first 500 advance ticket holders get access to a variety of winery seminars at no additional charge. One-day tickets are $40 and two-day tickets are $60. Event attendees are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance as this event will sell out. Advance ticketing at: www.calaveraswines.org/presidents-wine-weekend. 21 and over only and designated drivers are recommended. Winery seminar topics include but not limited to: “Bottling Bootcamp”, “Wine Caves are Cool Tour”, “Highest Elevation Tour and Barrel Samples”, “An Exploration of Bordeaux Style Wines”, “An Exploration of Rhone Style Wines”, “Sustainable Winemaking”, “Calaveras History and Wine Tour” and “An Exploration of Sangiovese Style Wines”. The team at the Calaveras Winegrape Alliance is developing the winery seminar schedule and will assign advance ticket holders to heir seminar location the week prior. “We have such a rich history of winemaking in our Gold Rush Era towns throughout the Sierra Foothills”, shares Sandra Hess, CWA Executive Director. “The Annual Presidents’ Wine Weekend event is our version of an Open House, offering opportunities for visitors to get to know members of our winemaking community and the families who run our tasting rooms, restaurants and hotels throughout Calaveras Wine Country”.

Presidents’ Wine Weekend in Calaveras County is the best time for wine lovers to get to know winemakers/winemaking families, taste their way through Calaveras varietals, learn more about the wine region and connect with family-run wineries that make up Calaveras Wine Country. A variety of restaurants, shops and hotels are available in the historical downtown areas of Murphys and Angels Camp where tasting rooms are most located.

Hydration stations will be available both days at the CWA Wine Information Center 202 Main Street in Murphys and in front of the Native Sons Hall in Murphys a well as at the Calaveras Visitors Bureau at 1192 South Main Street Angels Camp. Visitors to Calaveras County Wine Country, can also find special hotel packages, activities, and more at the Calaveras Winegrape Alliance website. Weekend Play Packages are being added!
