Wine Scholar Guild logoThe Wine Scholar Guild is excited to announce the launch of the new Loire Master Level program led by a panel of globally renowned Loire experts in September 2019.

The Loire is France’s largest white wine region, the second largest for sparkling wines and the third largest overall producer of AOC wines in France.  It is a region of great diversity: whites, rosés and reds; still and sparkling; dry, off-dry, medium-sweet and luscious botrytized wines.  Few other regions offer such diversity at such a consistently high quality level. If you are serious about wine, you need to know the Loire.

The Loire is the epitome of cool.  From the renowned biodynamics champion Nicolas Joly to a new generation of winemakers who are delivering exciting cool climate, elegant and expressive wines.  This is a region in change and one that is finally receiving well-deserved attention and recognition.

Lead instructor, Pascaline Lepeltier, MS, MOF and French Best Sommelier 2018 notes that “The Loire Valley is probably today one of the most exciting and diverse wine regions in the world, and yet strangely very few books or classes are dedicated to it. This Master Class with webinars led by world-renowned journalists, vignerons, sommeliers, will fill this gap and offer an in-depth understanding of the area.”

Students will enjoy live webinars with a panel of passionate and inspiring Loire superstars. Pascaline Lepeltier is joined by Nicolas Joly, Andrew Jefford, Alice Feiring, Chris Kissack, Jim Budd, Jo Landron, Damien Delecheneau, Benoit Roumet and Véronique Rivest.

The webinars will run twice-a-week and provide students with an opportunity to interact with the instructors, helps to keep students on track and creates a learning community. For those who can’t make the webinar live, recordings will be available.

Like the other Master Level programs offered by the Wine Scholar Guild, the new Loire Master-Level program is an in-depth course of study designed for all committed students of wine whether wine professionals or serious wine enthusiasts. The program is supported by extensive student material: a full colour manual, custom maps, and online e-learning modules, quizzes, practice exams and discussion forums.
