Founded in 1879, Inglenook is Celebrating its 140th Anniversary – and its 25th Anniversary of Organic Certification
WHAT: Inglenook, one of the first wineries in Napa Valley, boasts an illustrious heritage, a renowned legacy of innovation and an outstanding portfolio of award-winning wines. Founded in 1879, Inglenook is celebrating its 140th anniversary this year – and its 25th anniversary of its vineyards’ organic certification. To honor the occasion, Inglenook is hosting a Veraison Hike. Guests are welcomed to join a guided hike through Inglenook’s organically-farmed vineyards during Veraison, an exciting time in the ripening cycle when white grapes transition from green to gold and red grapes transition from green to red, a sign that Harvest is just around the corner.
The hike will be led by Assistant Winemaker Jonathan Tyer. Following the hike, guests will savor two of Inglenook’s estate wines, Rubicon and Cabernet Sauvignon, paired with bites prepared by estate chef Alex Lovick, who draws from the bounty of Inglenook’s organically-farmed culinary garden.
Organic farming has always been important to Eleanor and Francis Ford Coppola, who purchased Inglenook in 1975. Historically farmed using organic methods, Inglenook’s vineyards were among the first to be certified organic in Napa Valley in 1994. Inglenook is the largest contiguous estate on the famed Rutherford Bench, and in keeping with the sustainable approach at Inglenook, the team uses a fleet of energy efficient electric vehicles on the estate.
