RAW WINE Los Angeles 2023

April 23, 2023 - April 24, 2023

$30.00

RAW WINE, the world’s largest network of low-intervention organic, biodynamic and natural wines, their growers and makers, returns to Los Angeles this April. RAW WINE Los Angeles will take place in the Fashion District of Downtown L.A. at City Market Social House (1145 South San Pedro Street, Los Angeles, CA 90015) on Sunday, April 23 (11 am to 6 pm), and Monday, April 24 (10 am to 5 pm).

As the largest gathering on the west coast for growers, RAW WINE L.A. will feature over 70 growers from 12 different countries, presenting one of the most exciting collections of fine, natural, organic and biodynamic wine artisans in the world. RAW WINE offers a platform to new growers and makers as they start out in the industry, and provides access to a quality trade network established over time. Over the years, growers participating in the fair have built up their distribution internationally, substantially broadening access to and deepening the world’s understanding of low-intervention organic, biodynamic and natural wine.

A few of this year’s highlights include:

  • Curated food offerings on site during both days of the fair from TABULA RASA serving sandwiches and burgers, Jolly Oyster, serving oysters and raw fish, guest Chef Bunon from Tokyo, and Tees Cafe’s tacos.
  • Nonalcoholic options include coffee from Canyon Coffee, as well as Unified Ferments.
  • Featuring 27 (and counting) wineries from the United States, including an exciting wild blueberry bubbles maker from Maine called BLUET; the inspiring, polycultural, biodiverse haven in Oregon that is Hiyu Wine Farm; and even 19 local Californian heroes that make wine all over the state.
  • In fact, Raj Parr’s Phelan Farm and Abe Schoener’s The Los Angeles River Wine Company will both be showing bottles made from grapes harvested in historic vineyards (the youngest vines are from 1918) around L.A. – a unique opportunity to experience a comparative tasting and understand firsthand the impact a winemaker has on a resulting wine.
  • Raj and Abe will also host a tutored tasting during the fair, exploring the history of L.A.’s long-forgotten, urban vineyard heritage, featuring bush vines some 100+ years old. In fact, the youngest vineyard was planted in 1918 and the oldest in 1896.
  • An exciting, traditional agave spirits project from Mexico called Neta Agave Spirits – a rare opportunity to taste a selection of micro-distillates that would otherwise not be found outside of Miahuatlan in Oaxaca. Neta Agave Spirits will also be hosting a small, intimate, tutored tasting on the Monday of the fair to help fair attendees immerse themselves in the world of mezcal.
  • An exciting selection of Mexican natural wines by Vino Barrigón, Dominio de las Abejas, Octagono, and Viñas del Tigre, with more to come.
  • There will also be a masterclass on Mexican wine for fair attendees on the Monday of the fair.
