America’s First-and-Only Wine Fair Dedicated to Skin-Contact Wines Orange Glou Wine Fair in New York City on November 3, 2024 Highlights over 100 Orange Wines from Austria, Italy & Slovenia

October 18, 2024 – New York — The third annual Orange Glou Wine Fair, America’s first and only fair dedicated exclusively to orange wines, is returning to New York on November 3rd, 2024, where attendees can try over 100 wines, meet winemakers and more. Founded by top orange wine expert Doreen Winkler, founder of Orange Glou, the first and only wine store and club dedicated to orange (aka skin-contact) wines, each Orange Glou Fair focuses on different winemaking regions, with this year’s focus on Austria, Italy and Slovenia.

Soaring in popularity across the U.S., orange wines are made with white grapes but in the style typical of reds where the skins are kept in contact with the juice for a period of time after pressing. The process results in a wide range of textures, flavors and hues that span from light pink to dark amber and everything in between, making orange wines an extremely versatile style of wine.

“Orange wines are incredibly exciting and they deserve more exposure. While they’re growing in popularity with the opening of more natural wine bars and the continued growth of the Orange Glou store and club, I hope this Fair will continue to help raise the profile of skin-contact wines and educate consumers on how this diverse style of wine is made and can be enjoyed,” says Orange Glou Fair founder Doreen Winkler. “The Orange Glou Fair will feature the best of the best orange wines from Austria, Italy and Slovenia. From first-time orange wine drinkers to experienced sommeliers, there will be something for everyone to enjoy. With over 100 wines, my goal for the Fair is to broaden the understanding of orange wines by showcasing how layered they are and highlighting natural winemaking techniques.”

Wines featured at the Fair must follow Winkler’s criteria: grapes are grown organically or biodynamically by independent producers, hand-picked and fermented with indigenous yeasts; no additives or new oak aging; under 20 mg per liter or no sulfites are added; the wines are unfiltered and unfined.

Participating wineries include Austria’s Gut Oggau, Franz Strohmeier, Christian Tschida, Georg Schmelzer, Weingut Maria & Sepp Muster, Fidesser Orbis, Weingut Heinrich, Ploder Rosenberg, Markus Altenburger, Koppitsch; Italy’s Franco Terpin, Alessandro Viola, Frank Cornelissen, Podere Pradarolo, Cantina Giardino, La Stoppa, Cantina Indigeno, Foradori, Marco di Bartoli; Slovenia’s Božidar Zorjan, Blažič, Keltis, Guerila, Kabaj, Atelier Kramar, JNK, Svetlik; plus wines from neighbors Croatia’s Tomac and Bosnia & Herzegovina’s Skrego from wine importers Scuola di Vino, Zev Rovine Selections, Vinum, Jenny & Francois, Bowler Wines and Louis Dressner Selections.

The Orange Glou Fair will be held in a space at 31 E. 17th Street in Union Square in Manhattan on November 3rd, 2024, in two sessions. Tickets are $65 for the 11am-2:30pm tasting and $75 for 3pm-6pm, and include an Orange Glou Fair glass to keep, as well as water and coffee. The Orange Glou Wine Fair After Party ($75) will be held at the Orange Glou store (264 Broome Street) from 7pm-10pm with winemakers. (Attendees can apply $20 to any in-store purchase made the night of the after party.)

The 2024 NYC Orange Glou Fair partners are Austrian Wine, S.Pellegrino, Onyx Coffee Lab and Ravenscroft Crystal.
