California Grape Rootstock Commission Notice to California Grapevine Industry 

October 1, 2024 / Sacramento, CA — The California Grape Rootstock Improvement Commission (CGRIC) has obtained a judgment in the Tehama County Superior Court against Herrick Grapevines, LLC, a grape rootstock nursery located in Red Bluff, for noncompliance with obligations on grape rootstock nurseries operating in California. The judgment includes an injunction prohibiting Herrick Grapevines, LLC, and its owner, Diego Barison, from conducting any type of business involving grape rootstock until all other terms of the judgment are satisfied.

The CGRIC is the state government entity created under and charged with enforcing Sections 74701 through 74796 of California’s Food & Agriculture Code. These laws impose certain obligations on grape rootstock nurseries operating in California. This judgment is a public document, and a copy may be obtained from the Tehama County Superior Court.

As of the date of this notice, Herrick Grapevines, LLC, has not satisfied the terms of the judgment, and the injunction remains in effect. CGRIC sends this notice to alert all industry participants of the judgment and to advise that any business conducted with Herrick Grapevines, LLC, pertaining to grape rootstock, is in violation of the court’s order.
