Phase 2 Cellars Celebrates CCOF Organic Certification

September 17, 2024 — Phase 2 Cellars, the Central Coast’s leading custom winemaking facility, is proud to announce its recent organic certification by California’s Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF).  A regional industry pioneer in renewable energy, the CCOF’s organic certification builds upon Phase 2 Cellars’ fundamental commitment to sustainability.  The 80,000 square foot, full service, vineyard to bottle facility provides a high-quality yet cost-effective solution to growers and wine industry leaders seeking to produce ‘organic’ and/or ‘made with organic’ wines at scale.

Josh Baker, CEO of Phase 2 Cellars, offered, “Sustainability has been a cornerstone of our mission since long before the winery stood in its place today.  As pioneers in the Edna Valley, we were wine grape growers long before we were winemakers, and every acre of those vines remains certified sustainable to this day.  Organic certification by the CCOF was a logical step forward in our goal to provide premium winemaking services to industry leaders, and certainly to those who share the same commitment to sustainability that we do.”

Sarah Dotts, Phase 2 Cellars’ Associate Winemaker and project lead surrounding the certification process, noted, “Working through the certification process was an incredibly rewarding challenge.  The rigorous standards required us to create new record keeping practices focused on transparency, as well as operational changes assuring an organic winemaking environment.  It was a team effort, and I’m excited and proud to have been granted the certification.
