Don Melchor, the Chilean industry’s first icon wine, is set to tour its main global markets to celebrate its 35th vintage. Today, five decades after the brand’s debut, Don Melchor 2021 remains a wine that uniquely expresses its origin in the acclaimed Puente Alto appellation.
July 8, 2024 – Viña Don Melchor, a subsidiary of Viña Concha y Toro holding, embarks on the global roadshow, “Don Melchor 2021: Celebrates its 35th Vintage” in its leading markets, led by CEO and Technical Director, Enrique Tirado and accompanied by Viña Concha y Toro’s Vice President of Wines, Isabel Guilisasti. 
The roadshow was inaugurated in Sao Paulo, Brazil, where Don Melchor has been present since its first vintage—1987—and which is now one of the brand’s most important markets. Over the years Don Melchor has established itself as one of the most prestigious and influential luxury wine brands among Brazilian consumers.
In the latter half of the year the tour will visit several other markets, including the United States, Mexico, Costa Rica, and Chile in the Americas; China, South Korea and other countries in Asia; and lastly England and the Nordic countries in Europe.

The new 2021 vintage of Don Melchor, the 35th for the wine, is composed of 93% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc and 3% Merlot, and spent 15 months in French oak barrels, 68% new and 32% second use. “This new vintage of Don Melchor clearly demonstrates the great potential of our unique terroir in the Puente Alto appellation. While it genuinely reflects the vintage’s exceptional climatic conditions and precise agro-ecological management, Don Melchor 2021 also demonstrates the maturity and excellence of an entire team committed to producing a world-class wine. Viña Don Melchor is dedicated to the production of the icon Cabernet Sauvignon Don Melchor. The Don Melchor Vineyard is in the acclaimed Puente Alto appellation in Alto Maipo. It is situated on the third alluvial terrace of the northern bank of the Maipo River, at an altitude of 650 metres in the foothills of the Andes Mountains. After some new plantings in 2022, the vineyard now covers 125 hectares, most of it planted to Cabernet Sauvignon (93%), with the rest divided among Cabernet Franc (5%), Merlot (1%) and Petit Verdot (1%).
