Bartholomew Estate Winery and Chef Cristina Topham Bring Back “The Spread” Dining Experience for 2024

Newest Iteration of Popular Collaborative Food & Wine Pairing Lunch Series Debuts May 10th

May 9th – Bartholomew Estate Winery is thrilled to announce the return of their annual lunch series collaboration with local chef Cristina Topham, owner of Spread Kitchen in Sonoma. This distinctive dining experience, aptly dubbed “The Spread” will debut at the winery May 10th, 2024 and run through November 9th, 2024.

“The Spread” offers guests a unique opportunity to savor wine country-inspired Lebanese cuisine amongst the winery’s majestic oak trees, while enjoying the picturesque views of vineyards and the Sonoma Valley’s western hills. The experience includes a carefully curated lunch menu, designed to complement a two-glass flight of the Estate’s award-winning wines while showcasing the creativity and finesse of Spread Kitchen’s culinary team. Each dish is meant to highlight the exceptional bounty of our region and features premium seasonal ingredients, locally sourced wherever possible.

“I am delighted to return for another year of ‘The Spread’ at Bartholomew,” says Spread Kitchen chef and owner Cristina Topham. “It’s a joy to work with the winery team. They are always so warm and collaborative, with a deep sense of purpose that I find really captivating. It’s a privilege to have guests experience our food alongside some exceptional Estate wines in a truly spectacular setting.”

Anna Pope, Frank H. Bartholomew Foundation trustee and winery owner, echoes this sentiment: “Everything about Cristina’s food is beautiful – how it looks, how it smells, of course how it tastes; but most important is how it makes you feel. I liken it to being invited into a family home. There’s this palpable sense of warmth, care, even love; all of which greatly enriches the guest’s experience. We are grateful for the opportunity to provide something so genuinely special through this continued partnership.

Tickets ($75/pp | $65/pp for club members) for “The Spread” lunch series are available via Tock, with several daily reservation times bookable on multiple dates between May 10th, 2024 and November 9th, 2024. Guests should allot approximately two hours for the experience.

About Bartholomew Estate Winery

Bartholomew Estate Winery is conveniently located just seven blocks from the downtown Sonoma Plaza, and offers a broad collection of exceptional estate-grown wines from certified organic vineyards. The land atop which the winery sits, a 375-acre property now known as Bartholomew Park, is considered the birthplace of California viticulture: the first privately owned vineyard in the Sonoma Valley was planted there, and the property was once home to Count Agoston Haraszthy, the father of the California wine industry. In 1943, Frank “Bart” Bartholomew and his wife, Antonia, purchased the property – which by then had fallen into dormancy and disrepair – and restored it to much of its former magnificence. In 1980, the Bartholomews established the Frank H. Bartholomew Foundation, a trust whose purpose was to ensure that others would be able to enjoy the property long after they were gone. The resulting private park – which is open to the public at no charge – was, and remains, the Bartholomews’ gift to their beloved local community. Clusters of majestic oak trees, rolling hills, and a peaceful stream are highlights of the park, which also offers miles of dog-friendly hiking trails, picnic grounds, and horseback rides. Nestled in the middle of the park is Bartholomew Estate Winery, formed by Foundation Trustee Anna Pope and notable winemaker Kevin Holt with the express purpose of preserving and protecting Bartholomew Park. The winery is a relative newcomer to the flourishing Sonoma wine industry, having only opened its doors in 2019, but has already established itself as a significant contributor to the market. To honor the legacy of the Bartholomews, and in keeping with their generous spirit, all profits from wine sales go directly to preserve and protect the park.

The winery is open daily from 11:30am-4pm for tastings by appointment and bottles-to-go. For additional information and updates, please visit www.bartholomewestate.com and follow along on social media (Facebook | Instagram).

About Spread Kitchen

The first brick and mortar restaurant for chef-owner Cristina Topham, and a long-held dream finally realized, Spread Kitchen opened in the spring of 2022 in the Boyes Hot Springs area of Sonoma. Spread pays homage to Topham’s Lebanese roots while leaning into the hyperlocal, super-fresh ethos that permeates California’s culinary culture. She sources ingredients from as nearby as possible, working closely with farms and producers throughout the greater Bay Area. Topham’s menu is ever-changing by design, flowing naturally with the changing of the seasons. Everything served at Spread Kitchen is a labor of love, made by hand and from scratch. Spread’s internationally-leaning wine list features a rousing mix of selections from wine regions spanning South Africa, Greece, Lebanon, Tunisia and Hungary. Spread Kitchen’s guests can opt for a more intimate dining experience inside or to enjoy their meal alfresco on the restaurant’s cheery (and dog-friendly!) outdoor patio.
