Healdsburg, Sonoma County – April 17, 2024 – DaVero Farms & Winery, nestled in the heart of Sonoma County, announces its recent collaboration with the Monarch Joint Venture in a significant effort to preserve and promote the habitat of the iconic Monarch butterfly. Through a grant from the Monarch Joint Venture, DaVero has embarked on a mission to bolster the population of these majestic creatures by planting native flowers and milkweed on their regenerative farm.
The Monarch Joint Venture, dedicated to conserving the monarch butterfly migration, provided DaVero with flower seeds and milkweed starts, enabling the farm winery to create essential pollinator habitats. These efforts align with DaVero’s commitment to regenerative and biodynamic farming practices, furthering their dedication to nurturing a harmonious relationship between land and community.
“At DaVero, we believe in farming for our future,” says Rea Prince, Director of Operations. “By partnering with the Monarch Joint Venture, we’re not only cultivating wine and olive oil but also cultivating a thriving ecosystem where every living being, including the Monarch butterfly, plays a vital role.”
The initiative involves planting a variety of native flowers and milkweed on half an acre of land across the farm’s many garden zones. These plants serve as essential food sources and breeding grounds for Monarch butterflies, contributing to their survival and the preservation of their remarkable migration patterns.
Throughout the spring and summer months, guests visiting DaVero will be treated to a spectacle of vibrant flowers and fluttering butterflies, showcasing the success of their conservation efforts in action.

To celebrate this partnership and raise awareness about the importance of pollinator habitats, DaVero Farms & Winery will host the “Butterflies & Buds Spring Festival” on Saturday, May 11, from 10 am to 2 pm. This immersive event will feature hands-on farm activities, spring wine tastings, and an open house, offering guests the opportunity to experience the enchantment of spring while supporting conservation efforts. “Butterflies & Buds Spring Festival” is presented in partnership with The Farm Studio, a Sonoma County based educational collaborative.
