Lungarotti Brings Umbria to Prowein 2024

The historical winery of Torgiano will present new vintages of the wines that have made it famous in Germany and worldwide. International preview featuring the restyled “Il Pometo” line.

March 6 2024 – From Italy’s green heart, Lungarotti presents the new vintages of its iconic wines at the 30th edition of Prowein in Düsseldorf. From March 10th to 12th, within the stand of national importer Schlumberger/Consigliovini (Hall 4 Stand E20), visitors can taste a selection of Lungarotti’s most beloved wines in Germany, the Umbrian winery’s major export market.

Tastings will also spotlight the top wines from the historical Torgiano estate, such as Rubesco Riserva Vigna Monticchio 2018 – Torgiano Rosso Riserva DOCG – a pure Sangiovese which celebrates its 60th anniversary this year.

San Giorgio 2018, based on Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon, features a label bearing the signature of Giorgio Lungarotti, whose incessant passion for experimenting and distinctive pioneering spirit inspired him to work with this unusual – at that time – varietal.

The iconic whites being poured are the Torre di Giano Vigna il Pino 2020 – based on Vermentino, Trebbiano e Grechetto – and Aurente 2019 – Chardonnay di Torgiano DOC, a rich and elegant white produced with pure Chardonnay grapes.

Organic wines are represented by the labels from the Lungarotti Estate in Montefalco: Ilbio – Umbria IGT Rosso 2021 and Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG 2019, a rich-textured red that embodies the extraordinary peculiarities of Sagrantino, the king of varietals in Montefalco: a perfect affinity between power and elegance.

Lungarotti’s participation in Düsseldorf is the perfect setting to present an international preview of the restyling for the “Il Pometo” range comprising white fresh-drinking/ “vin de soif” wines from the territory such as Grechetto (Umbria IGT Grechetto), Trespo (Umbria IGT Bianco), Pinot Grigio (Umbria IGT Pinot Grigio) and the territorial red based on Sangiovese (Umbria IGT Sangiovese).  In the “Pometo” (= fruit orchard) parcel of the Torgiano estate, the soil is capable of conferring fruitiness, – as suggested by the name – crunchiness and immediate appeal for fun and fresh wines that are inextricably tied with their place of origin. On the new labels, the “cat” has been adapted from one of the ex libris of the MUVIT Torgiano Wine Museum designed for the Museum by Andrzej Kot.

Lungarotti will be present at ProWein from March 10 to 12 in the Schlumberger/ Consigliovini pavillion, Hall 4, Stand E20.

LUNGAROTTI

A symbol of Umbrian enological excellence, Lungarotti has contributed to writing the history of Italian wine in the world. A story that began with Giorgio Lungarotti, a pioneer of modern Italian enology who transformed the family agricultural company, in Torgiano, into a successful winery after the war. A story that still continues today thanks to the commitment, passion and expertise of 3 generations of the Lungarotti family who have been able to innovate without betraying the unmistakable character of iconic wines such as Rubesco Riserva Vigna Monticchio – Torgiano Rosso Riserva DOCG, considered among the best Italian reds, and Rubesco – Rosso di Torgiano DOC. Lungarotti has a total of 250 hectares of vineyards, spread between the Torgiano Estate (230 ha, certified VIVA since 2018) and the Montefalco Estate (20 ha, certified organic since 2014), where a viticulture attentive to sustainability and biodiversity is practised. The company’s pillars also include the promotion of quality wine tourism and the promotion of the culture of wine, oil and artistic heritage through the Wine Museum (MUVIT) and the Olive and Oil Museum (MOO) in Torgiano. www.lungarotti.it
