Headliners: Vulfpeck | the Head &The Heart | Allison Russell | Theo Katzman
February 27th, 2024 (Templeton, CA) – The Udsen family of Castoro Cellars has announced the lineup for their 2024 Whale Rock Music & Arts Festival. Closing out the festival will be indie rockers The Head and the Heart and the critically acclaimed groove masters Vulfpeck.
2023 was a whirlwind year for The Head And The Heart. The acclaimed Seattle band sold out the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre for the seventh time, co headlined a tour with The Revivalists and Father John Misty, and announced their own boutique two-day music festival in Napa, CA, Down in The Valley. Initially self released in 2011, The Head And The Heart’s self-titled breakout debut produced instant classics including “Rivers and Roads,” “Down In The Valley” and “Lost In My Mind” (#1 at AAA) and is now Certified Gold. With high energy performances and beautiful harmonies, they are not to be missed.
Vulfpeck is an American funk band founded in 2011 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, by Jack Stratton, Theo Katzman, Woody Goss and Joe Dart. The band has released four extended plays, six studio albums and one live album through their own record label. The band gained recognition in 2014 for releasing Sleepify, a silent album that exposed a loophole in Spotify’s royalty distribution and funded an admission-free tour. The band is one of the first to sell out Madison Square Garden without a manager or backing label, and released the recorded performance as a live album in 2019.
In this eleventh year, Whale Rock Music & Arts Festival will again deliver two stellar days of wine-loving, peace, and jammin’ in the vines, all benefiting Templeton Music Education.
In addition to the headliners, the always eclectic lineup will include Grammy award winning Allison Russell (Americana), Theo Katzman (Rock n Roll w/ Soul), ALO (Jam, Folk), Cool Cool Cool (Funk), Dustbowl Revival (folk, roots), Jackie Venson (Blues), Rainbow Girls (Folk), Broken Compass Bluegrass (Bluegrass), Sam Chase & the Untraditional (folk punk), Late for the Train (Folk), Max MacLaury (Americana), Samba Loca (afro-brazilian), Brass Mash (Brass Driven Pop), and a battle of the bands contest winner TBA. Daily schedules to be announced at a later date.
Tickets are now on sale at the festival’s website, two-day passes are $150/pp along with $95 single day passes that will be released soon. Children 4 & under are free and 5-12 are just $10. Teen tickets are also available at a discounted rate.
Whale Rock Music and Arts Festival features back-to-back band performances on two stages, a gallery of local artists, all-ages yoga, kid crafts and games, Castoro wines, Bethel Rd. spirits, craft beers, hard ciders, food trucks and more. The Udsen family has gifted event proceeds to local, education-based non-profit organizations each year. Total donated over the past 10 years exceeds $170,000. The 2024 benefactor is again the Templeton Instrumental Music Boosters Association (TIMBA), a parent volunteer organization dedicated to enhancing the experiences of Templeton High School musicians.
