PacifiCorp’s Wildfire Settlements Highlight Winery Lawsuits for 2020 Smoke Losses

December 27, 2023 – Three Willamette Valley courts have just ruled that several Valley wineries may move forward with their suits against PacifiCorp for igniting wildfires that they claim ruined their 2020 harvests and vintages with smoke taint. And lawyers  representing the wineries just recovered $549 million for their Douglas County clients who sued PacifiCorp for their 2020 losses from two of those fires. The wineries and their lawyers will present the following public town hall meetings, so additional vineyards and wineries can also learn how to submit their potential claims for recovery of their 2020 fire smoke damage losses:

January 23, 2024, at 12 p.m. at the Atticus Hotel, in McMinnville, Oregon February 28, 2024, at 12 p.m. at the Atticus Hotel, in McMinnville, Oregon

The wineries who obtained the recent court rulings are Elk Cove, Willamette Valley  Vineyards, and Brigadoon Winery.

The law firms who recovered the Douglas County settlement, and who are representing the wineries are BakerHostetler and Watts Guerra, who are joined in the Willamette Valley cases by their local Eugene, Oregon counsel Greg Lusby of the Arnold Gallagher law firm.
