Founder of Non-Profit Our Legacy Harvested Named Vice President of Label Founded by Retired NBA Player Channing Frye
PORTLAND, Ore. (May 22, 2023) – Chosen Family Wines is thrilled to announce that Tiquette Bramlett, founder of nonprofit Our Legacy Harvested and the first Black woman hired to run a winery in the US, has joined their team as Vice President. Bramlett’s initial priorities in her new role will center around Chosen’s continued growth after what has been an incredible year for the label. To start she will work closely with Channing and the team on expanding distribution, selecting additional collaboration wineries, exploring vineyards and properties for a Chosen Family winery, and continuing to champion Chosen’s dedication to their community and diversity.
Bramlett has been a member of the Willamette Valley wine community since 2015 and fell in love with the region’s wines while studying to become a sommelier. In March 2021, she was the first Black woman hired to run a winery in the country, and in 2020 she founded nonprofit Our Legacy Harvested, an organization dedicated to educating, advancing and empowering the BIPOC community at any career level within the wine industry. Since the start of this year alone, she was named one of USA TODAY’s Women of the Year in 2023, named one of Portland Business Journals 2023 Women of Influence, and was presented with the Oregon Tourism Diversity, Equity, Accessibility and Inclusion Award at the 2023 Oregon Governor’s Conference on Tourism.
“Tiquette adds a powerful voice of wine and diversity to our Chosen Family.” Says Frye, “We look forward to having her incredible energy, leadership and understanding of the business as we look to take the next step in our wine journey.”
Chosen Family Wines has had a banner year including new collaborations with highly regarded wineries such as Lingua Franca, an exciting pop-up at acclaimed Portland restaurant Kann, and an excellent set of scores from Wine Enthusiast including an Editor’s Choice pick for their 2020 Hazelfern Syrah. This summer, you’ll find Frye and Bramlett at Aspen Food & Wine where they will speak on a panel on NBA Wines, as well as at IPNC (International Pinot Noir Celebration) where Chosen is a featured wine. Frye and Chosen Family Wines have also championed diversity and inclusion in the wine industry through events and collaborations that benefit nonprofits Our Legacy Harvested and The Roots Fund, as well as co-founding the One Barrel Challenge, a collective dream of making Oregon’s wine industry more accessible and inclusive, regardless of color, class or creed.
“I am thrilled to be part of the Chosen Family.” Says Bramlett, “Channing has been a great supporter of Our Legacy harvested. I truly admire his commitment to being so actively involved in Chosen Family Wines, and constantly striving to bring diversity to the wine industry. We share a common ethos and passion for wine, diversity, basketball and family. I look forward to bringing my experience and perspective to a wine label that I have so much respect for.”
Bramlett will continue her role running non-profit Our Legacy Harvested. She is also on the board of IPNC (International Pinot Noir Celebration) and Oregon Wine Board, and is on the Board of Directors for Assemblage Symposium, a program for women and diverse groups in wine that inspires deep, intersectional conversations about the challenges these communities face with a particular focus on amplifying the voices of those traditionally underrepresented in the industry.
