Villa Santo Stefano at Prowein (Halle 16 Stand H71). The Tuscan winery brings Nina wine, 100% Cabernet Franc, for tasting
Lucca, March 16th 2023 – Villa Santo Stefano brings its new Nina to Prowein in Düsseldorf (19-21 March). The winery from the hills of Lucca, which will be present in Halle 16 Stand H71, will be bringing for the first time its Cabernet Franc 100% vintage 2020 and available in a limited edition of only 2000 bottles.
The wine is a tribute by winery owner Wolfgang Reitzle to his wife Nina Ruge, a well-known TV face in Germany and writer of best-sellers on longevity.
Reitzle’s great desire to produce a pure Cabernet Franc led Villa Santo Stefano to purchase eleven hectares of vineyards in the Maremma last year, in an area particularly suited to the cultivation of this great grape variety.
The company’s first single-vineyard label was Villa Santo Stefano, which immediately proved to be very popular among wine professionals and winelovers, produced in very few bottles in magnum format. Hence the decision to create a new wine capable of capturing and telling even more of the nuances of this grape variety.
Nina shows intense ruby red tones and a characteristic varietal aroma with notes of sweet pepper, raspberries, cherries and berries. In the mouth it is fresh, elegant with a fine and very balanced tannin while the finish is long, juicy and immediately invites one to another glass
During the Düsseldorf event, it will also be possible to taste Loto 2017, 2018, 2019, Sereno 2020 and Volo 2020, as well as the new vintage of Gioia and Luna wines.
Loto is the first wine produced by the winery and no more than four bunches are selected for each vine, to ensure maximum yield from each plant. The grapes are harvested and selected by hand and the fermentation process lasts 12 days, depending on the type of grape and the vintage; the ageing process lasts 12 to 18 months and takes place in French barriques. The wine is then aged for six months in large cement vats. Once bottled, it must wait at least another six months before being marketed.
Among the reds is Sereno, a Doc Colline Lucchesi with 85% Sangiovese and 15% Ciliegiolo, Canaiolo and Colorino, and Volo, whose grapes come from the company’s youngest vineyards of 40% Petit Verdot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Alicante.
Also being tasted in Düsseldorf are the white Gioia, 100% Vermentino, and the rosé Luna, 80% Sangiovese and 20% Ciliegiolo.

Villa Santo Stefano is the choice of Wolfgang Reitzle who, after many years as manager of the most important car manufacturers in Germany and the USA, has decided to produce his wine and oil in Lucca Reitzle, born near Neu-Ulm in Germany, spent his summers with his family in Italy as a child. His passion for Tuscany led him to buy Villa Santo Stefano with his wife Nina Ruge, a well-known TV celebrity and best-selling author in Germany, and convert it into a farm producing oil and wine. The main principle of the estate, which also includes a space dedicated to hospitality, is a technological and environmentally conscious management. Starting from 2022 Villa Santo Stefano will raise 18 hectares of vineyards divided between Lucchesia and Maremma, producing a total of about 60,000 bottles of wine, together with 5 hectares of olive grove for 1,500 liters of extra virgin olive oil.
