Santa Rosa Junior College Offers Tasting Room Training

February 22nd – Santa Rosa, CA –Santa Rosa Junior College Wine Studies program announces spring wine tasting room training starting March 9. For just $92, students can learn to work in or manage a wine tasting room. Classes are held in the College’s own Shone Farm tasting room in the heart of the Russian River valley. 

Designed for existing and new tasting room workers, classes are Thursday and Friday evenings for eight weeks. In the Tasting Room Operations class, students rotate through stations in the student-run wine tasting room at Shone Farm, developing skills in customer service, customer relationship management, closing sales, giving tours, merchandising, responsible alcohol service, and current operating software systems.

In the Tasting Room Management class, students develop skills to manage a wine tasting room including hiring, training, personnel management, budgeting and monitoring profit. Both classes are taught by expert tasting room trainer Susan Cole. More about Susan is at www.SusanColeDirect.com.

“Santa Rosa Junior College recognizes the need for well-trained wine hospitality personnel to support the economic recovery in Sonoma County and throughout Wine Country,” said Benjamin Goldstein, Dean, SRJC Agriculture and Natural Resources. “Our John and Terri Balletto tasting room at Shone Farm allows the SRJC Wine Studies program to train dozens of students each year in a working tasting room, providing them with the knowledge and tangible skills for careers in wine hospitality,”
