Richmond, VA (November 17th) – Broadbent Selections is pleased to announce a new partnership with Château de Pommard. From January of 2023, Broadbent will import Chateau de Pommard’s historic Clos Marey-Monge range of wines into the USA.

Clos Marey-Monge is a 20-hectare clos surrounded by a two-meter-high stone wall, whose vineyards have been converted to biodynamic viticulture, invigorating the soil and enhancing the yields of over one hundred-year-old vines. Each of its seven plots – Simone, Chantrerie, Nicolas-Joseph, Grands Esprits, 75 Rangs, Micault and Émilie has distinct soil types and microclimates, with Simone containing some of the highest clay density levels in Burgundy.

One of Broadbent Selections’ guiding principles is to work with family-owned wineries with long-standing winemaking traditions, community values and regional history. In recent years, Broadbent has been focused on deepening their partnerships in Europe and have added Burgundy and Rhône suppliers to their offerings.

“I mentioned to friends in the wine world – especially to Burgundy lovers – that we were working on representing esteemed Château de Pommard, there were gasps of incredulity and delight,” shared Bartholomew Broadbent, Broadbent Selections’ Founder and CEO. “Everyone is impressed by Château de Pommard and under the dynamic leadership of Michael Baum and his winemaking team, the wines are the best they’ve ever been!”

Like many great partnerships, this decision took time and happened over many years of discussions.

“When such an iconic brand considers appointing a national importer it can take years. They must have faith in the import company and be convinced. What helps the selection process is when the importer in question already represents some of the world’s most iconic brands. And though it did take several years, we are thrilled that Château de Pommard has agreed to join our family of great wineries.,” adds Broadbent.

“We are delighted to enter this new partnership with Broadbent Selections,” says Benoit Daury, Director of Trade at Château de Pommard. “The United States is a strategic market where we want to strengthen Château de Pommard’s presence, and Broadbent Selections is the right partner to match our ambitions. We are pleased to begin this new adventure with them, and I look forward to the upcoming long-term business cooperation.”
