(October 27; Santa Barbara, CA) – Kathy Joseph, founder and winemaker for Fiddlehead Cellars in Santa Barbara County and Willamette Valley, is pleased to announce her new distribution partnership with Palmetto Fine Wines, LLC. As leaders in fine wines throughout greater South Carolina, Palmetto will be representing Fiddlehead Cellars across the state while also supporting relationships with top restaurants, hotels and private clubs.
“South Carolina and the surrounding states have always been an important part of Fiddlehead Cellars,” says Kathy Joseph. “I cherish these consumer relationships and friends that I have cultivated throughout the years and look forward to working alongside Palmetto to support these relationships as we progress to the next chapter of Fiddlehead Cellars.”
Founded in 1989, Fiddlehead Cellars is an embodiment of Kathy Joseph’s pioneering spirit to create some of the most distinguished place-driven wines from Santa Barbara County and Willamette Valley. With an eye toward small-lot, elegant and age-worthy Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc and Grüner Veltliner, she has become recognized for taking an active farming role throughout the growing season. In 1995, Kathy began searching in western Santa Ynez Valley for land to establish an estate Pinot Noir vineyard. She homed in on a flower farm located at mile maker 7.28 on Santa Rosa Road. The property was not on the market at the time, but she made an offer to acquire it, and went on to plant 100 acres of vines, with the plan to use 15 acres for Fiddlehead Cellars and farm the remaining vines for other wineries. The site, Fiddlestix Vineyard, emerged as one of the primary Pinot Noir sites which helped define the Sta. Rita Hills AVA.
Established by Chuck Richards, Palmetto Fine Wines, LLC represents some of the most exceptional domestic and imported wines on the Eastern Seaboard for the past seven years. A former owner of Reid’s Fine Foods in Charlotte, North Carolina, Richards was long recognized as one of the top specialty food and beverage retailers in the United States. A founding member of the Charlotte Wine & Food Week, Richards also served on the board of directors of the Carolinas Food Industry Council and on the board of directors of the North Carolina Retail Merchants Association.
“Fiddlehead Cellars fits seamlessly into our portfolio of thoughtful, benchmark producers within their respective regions,” says Richards. “Kathy is the epitome of a trailblazer in the wine industry and the portfolio of wines represent some of the best in both California and Oregon.”
