Silvano Brescianini Is Reappointed as President

Erbusco, 7 May – The Board of Directors of the Consorzio Franciacorta, renewed during the meeting last Tuesday, reappointed Silvano Brescianini as President, renewing his mandate after a previous term of 3 years at the helm and prior to that as Vice-President of the consortium since 2009.

“I would like to thank the new board for their faith in me, which demonstrates great consistency and responsibility, and is an incentive for pursuing, with determination and commitment, our task of representing the many businesses that contribute to making Franciacorta a great wine-growing area, effectively protecting and promoting our valuable land. Finally, I would like to thank the outgoing directors for their contribution to the whole of Franciacorta over these past few years of work.”

The new Board of Directors met this evening and after electing the President then elected the Managing Director. This was a change at the top for the management of Consorzio Franciacorta: in fact, after 12 years in the position, Giuseppe Salvioni stood aside for Simona Luraghi, a manager with over 23 years’ experience gained in important multinational companies in the mass market and luxury sectors, and in the financial, commercial and strategic segments.

“Simona Luraghi will have to further distinguish the image, not only of Franciacorta but of all the associated wineries and the area, which is recognised as a system nationally and internationally. She will have to work with organisations and market stakeholders, focussing on an increasingly synergistic integration between the internal team, external stakeholders, the area, member companies and the local and national political context,” the President, Silvano Brescianini, stated. “With the assignment of Simona Luraghi, the role of Giuseppe Salvioni continues, which concerns the direct and continuous involvement of the Board of Directors, following an increasingly global and vertical vision that observes the strategic guidelines laid down by the shareholders’ meeting.”

Born in 1967 in Erbusco, in the heart of Franciacorta, Silvano Brescianini grew up in a winery. His great great-grandfather was a winemaker and produced wine in Erbusco long before Franciacorta was recognised as one of the most important appellations in the world. After a childhood spent among vineyards, he embarked on a sommelier course and gained experience in the restaurant business, which led him to Barone Pizzini, first as a partner and head of the winery, and then as CEO.

«There is still much to do,” continued Brescianini, “but the challenge for the next few years motivates us to keep following the guidelines shared under the banner of the union of passions.”
