Presented by Hispanics in Wine and Uncorked and Cultured, the Summit Featured Engaging Panel Discussions, Powerful 1-1 Conversations and Successful Networking Sessions, hosted by Gabriela Fernandez of KVON’s The Big Sip
New York, NY – October 25, 2021 – Hispanics in Wine held its first-ever “LatinX State of the Wine Industry” Virtual Summit on October 13, 2021, in collaboration with Uncorked and Cultured and moderated by Gabriela Fernandez of KVON’s The Big Sip. Open to trade professionals, press and wine-loving consumers, over 120 guests attended the virtual event.
The inaugural virtual event presented a series of exciting panel discussions led by notable Hispanic and LatinX industry leaders, insightful 1-1 conversations, as well as engaging networking sessions and the opportunity to connect with the event’s sponsors and partners at the virtual expo marketplace, who promoted special offers, opportunities, and initiatives. Through a completely immersive virtual experience, attendees were able to network with one another, as well as learn, support and connect with the ever-growing LatinX wine community of producers, entrepreneurs, and wine experts.
With a robust digital marketing campaign designed to build momentum and hype surrounding the inaugural event, social media promotion resulted in over 50 pieces of content, over 200,000 impressions and 1,000 likes (still growing), across all partner pages. Strategic media relations efforts garnered a reach of over 100,000, with coverage in top publications and industry sources.
With the continued mission to give back, the organizers are thrilled to announce that 100% of ticket sales will be donated to The Botanical Bus, a nonprofit organization consisting of a bilingual mobile herb clinic that empowers holistic health in LatinX and Indigenous populations through culturally relevant, community driven programs to mitigate the growing health disparity in these communities, a disparity particularly exposed throughout the global pandemic. Their Farmworker Clinic meets people where there are, at vineyard worksites and trusted family service centers, to provide upstream, integrative health services including massage, acupuncture, somatic therapy, clinical herbalism and health education.
“We are so excited to report that our inaugural event was a huge success,” say Lydia Richards and Maria Calvert, co-Founders of Hispanics in Wine. “Through powerful storytelling and meaningful connections, it is wonderful to witness the incredible talent and power of our diverse communities in wine. Banded together through dialogue, we were able to assess and discuss the current landscape of the industry, which will allow us to work on actionable, tangible solutions for the current issues affecting LatinX and overall BIPOC wine industry professionals.”
Main event sponsors included non-profit trade association Napa Valley Vintners, the largest family-owned winery in the world E. & J. Gallo Winery, innovative wine app Sippd, and online marketplace and communications platform SevenFifty. The summit’s community partners, a group of like-minded organizations focused on diversity and inclusion efforts within the industry, included Lift Collective, The Roots Fund, and Black/Brown.
“The LatinX State of the Wine Industry Summit is an amazing resource for industry trade, decision-makers, and consumers to further explore BIPOC wine culture and bring communities together,” says Angela McCrae, founder of Uncorked & Cultured. “I’m thrilled that the summit exceeded expectations, and am excited that videos from the summit will be available as resources for audiences to gain deeper insights on how to effectively advocate for equity and inclusivity in the wine industry.”
Today, the panel videos from the LatinX State of the Wine Industry Summit will be released on Uncorked & Cultured’s YouTube channel for wine enthusiasts who missed the virtual event or would like to revisit the exciting discussions.

About Gabriela Fernandez
“The Big Sip” is an audio-podcasting series hosted through Wine Down Media’s KVON 1440AM radio that spills knowledge on “sip” that matters, by highlighting and amplifying Black and Brown trailblazers breaking barriers in the food, wine, and arts industry. Each show provides listeners with an opportunity to learn about diverse leaders, trailblazers, and risk-takers pioneering a more equitable and inclusive world by centering a wine-full and mindful conversation around their experiences, challenges, achievements, and efforts to address the lack of diversity and inclusion throughout industries that have historically and systemically capitalized on their labor without equal representation.
