Long Shadows Vintners sits in second place in Best Wine Tasting Room category; public is encouraged to vote daily between now and Aug. 2
July 27th – (WALLA WALLA, Wash.) — With less than one week remaining to vote, Visit Walla Walla and the Walla Walla Valley Wine Alliance are asking the public to solidify the valley’s position as “America’s Best Wine Region” in the USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards. The Walla Walla Valley currently sits in first place ahead of Finger Lakes, NY and Texas Hill Country, and everyone is invited to vote daily by visiting the USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards page. Voting closes at 9 a.m. PDT on Monday, Aug. 2.
As winner of the prestigious title of America’s Best Wine Region in 2020, the Walla Walla Valley is seeking to defend its title for 2021. Walla Walla Valley winery Long Shadows Vintners is also vying for the title of America’s Best Tasting Room, and currently sits in second place just behind last year’s winner Corner 103 in Sonoma, Calif. The public can vote for Long Shadows by visiting the Best Wine Tasting Room page.
“We are thrilled to see the Walla Walla Valley as a ‘Best Wine Region’ nominee for the fourth consecutive year, and are hopeful that a last-minute push of votes will help solidify our position atop the leaderboard,” said Robert Hansen, executive director of Visit Walla Walla and Walla Walla Valley Wine. “The Walla Walla Valley and its wines, wineries, and vineyards have received a tremendous amount of critical acclaim in recent years, but a vote of the public is a true test of the overall appeal of a region. Not only from a wine standpoint, but from a visitor’s experiential perspective as well.”
A panel of five wine industry experts selected 20 finalists for “Best Wine Region” before handing the vote over to the public. The results are now up to community members, as they can vote daily until the competition ends Monday, Aug. 2 at noon.
Competing with more than 250 grape-growing wine regions in North America, the Walla Walla Valley is at the top of the list yet again. Just last year, the Walla Walla Valley won first place for “Best Wine Region,” as well as fifth place in 2018 and 2019.
