New Luxury Sonoma Wine Estate Showcases Two 100-Point Wines in Blockbuster New Tasting
(Sonoma, Calif.—June 7, 2021)—Immortal Estate, a new luxury Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon producer, today announced they will introduce the new 100-Point Experience June 15, 2021. The new tasting features four vintages of Impassable Mountain, including the 2013 and 2016, which were rated 100-points by Robert Parker of the Wine Advocate and Jeb Dunnuck respectively, alongside the 2014 and 2015 vintages, allowing for an immersive dive into this grand cru vineyard. The new experience will be offered by-appointment-only.
Immortal Estate’s spectacular 50-acre Sonoma vineyard site, planted on 55-degree slopes, is irreplaceable real estate. The vineyard has remained a best-kept secret since it was planted in 1998, but new ownership is bringing it out from the shadows. Tim Martin, one of the partners of cult Napa producer Tusk Estates, and Randy Nichols, the developer behind Napa’s new Auberge Resort at Stanly Ranch in Carneros, acquired Immortal Estate in 2017, and the duo, along with winemaker Timothy Milos, is making the case to place Sonoma Cabernet on the world stage.
THE ESTATE
Set on 50 acres of the sun-drenched, high-altitude slopes of the Mayacamas Mountains, Immortal Estate sits perfectly between the Napa and Sonoma border. The property is truly representative of farming in the margins. The reward for tending to this incredibly rugged, challenging, and, at times, treacherous site is undeniably distinctive fruit that can produce some of the best ageable Cabernet Sauvignon in the New World.
WINES AND WINEMAKING
Immortal Estate currently produces two Cabernet Sauvignons: Slope ($75) and the brand’s flagship, the Impassable Mountain ($303). Immortal’s unique placement on the border of Napa and Sonoma County gives these wines the best characteristics of both regions. They possess the structure and depth of a Napa Cabernet, yet have the finesse, acidity, and natural freshness of a cooler climate Cabernet — thanks to a cool ocean breeze rips through the vineyard every afternoon — that you’d more commonly find in Sonoma.
Winemaker Timothy Milos has been with Immortal Estate since its inception and brings his nearly 20 years of experience with this formidable vineyard to the table. A fifth-generation Bay Area native, Milos has made Cabernet from nearly every single Napa Valley appellation including many locations up and down the Mayacamas mountain range. He was formerly the head winemaker at S. Anderson Vineyard, then Cliff Lede, and in 2004, he started consulting for select wineries across Napa and Sonoma County, including Stewart Cellars, James Cole Winery, and Haber Family Vineyards. Tim has scored 90+ on over 150 wines, and has been awarded 100 point perfect scores for his hillside mountain Cabernets, the first of which was the 2013 Immortal Estate Impassable Mountain.
Milos takes a neoclassical approach with the Immortal Estates wines. He uses long, extended macerations in pursuit of extraction and body that allows the wines to age for decades. The wines are crafted with the intention to stand the test of time, which is why Immortal’s labels feature the “Immortal” Jellyfish, the only creature on earth that’s thought to live forever. In that same spirit, Immortal continues to reinvest in the land to ensure this unique vineyard site can live on for generations.
Immortal Estate’s New 100-Point Experience
Immortal Estate’s new 100-Point Experience will launch June 2021 and will be offered on a very limited basis for groups of four to six people for $500 per person. The experience includes four vintages of Immortal Estate’s flagship Cabernet Sauvignon, including the 2013 and 2016 vintages, which were each rated 100-points, along with cheese and charcuterie.
