New Luxury Napa Winery Helmed by Shannon O’Shaughnessy Introduces New Bi-Plane Scenic Flights & an Exclusive Tasting
(Napa, Calif.—April 19, 2021)—Shannon O’Shaughnessy, proprietor of new Napa luxury winery Aileron Estates, today announced the launch of Take Flight at Vintage Aircraft in Carneros with a planned start date of May 2021. This new experience combines O’Shaughnessy’s passion for flying followed by a private tasting featuring Aileron’s Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc.
Vintage Aircraft boasts three Boeing PT-17 Stearman planes modified to accommodate two passengers in the front open cockpit. Stearmans were the first aircraft a cadet would fly during flight training prior to and during World War II. Known for its stability and strength, the Stearman was a reliable primary trainer and remains a popular classic today.
Both of Vintage Aircrafts pilots have been commercial pilots for more than 30 years, and they’ll lead two guests for a 20 minute scenic tour of wine country. For those looking for an additional thrill, guests will have the chance to experience aerobatics, including inverting, a Barrel Roll, a Hammer Head—and possibly a Cuban Eight. Post-flight, you’ll have the chance to relax, sip and savor Aileron’s first two vintages of Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc.

Aileron Estates’ new Take Flight experience will launch May 2021 and will be offered year-round, weather-permitting on a limited basis for groups of two to eight people starting at $550 per person. A boxed lunch option is available for an extra fee. The experience includes a 20-minute scenic flight, including aerobatics if desired, followed by a private tasting.
