Dallas, TX (June 19, 2019) – Presently celebrating its fifteenth year, TEXSOM, the most prominent and influential sommelier education conference in the world, announces that registration is now open for TEXSOM 2019. The TEXSOM 2019 conference will take place August 18-20, 2019 at the Four Seasons Resort & Club Dallas at Las Colinas, Texas.

TEXSOM 2019 will include presentations by Master Sommeliers, Masters of Wine, Certified Wine Educators and other industry experts. Seminars will include regional spotlights, variety intensives, industry/sommelier roundtable discussions, and a fascinating seminar on the complexities of tea. The sessions will concentrate on wine, but also include sake, beer, coffee, tea, and other beverages.

Some of this year’s seminars include:

  • What is a Flaw?
  • Natural Fermentations
  • Tasting Wine in a Post-Modern World
  • Aging Rosé
  • Exploring Your own Backyard: Hybrids, Fruit Wines, Heritage Cider, Mead, and New Styles

TEXSOM is the only conference with presenting sponsors from four of the major wine education and certification organizations in the world: Court of Master Sommeliers – Americas, GuildSomm, Wine and Spirits Education Trust, and SommFoundation. The conference is expected to draw at least 1,200 attendees, of which the majority will be sommeliers, retailers and wine buyers.

TEXSOM 2019 will offer participants a chance to attend 30 different seminars, presented by over 60 leading subject matter experts. Attendees will also have the opportunity to evaluate thousands of wines during the conference, including more than 400 wines at the Grand Tasting and Awards Reception.

In addition, the conference will again host the TEXSOM Best Sommelier Competition, which is a challenge to young sommeliers to pit their knowledge and expertise against their peers’.  As in years past, the competition will be open to qualified candidates who reside in Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. The winners of the contest will be announced at the Grand Tasting and Awards Reception on the closing night.

Attendees will have the opportunity to read about a selection of TEXSOM International Wine Awards medal-winning wines in the conference program, which will include articles and descriptions about the competition and the wines. In addition, two networking suites, open to sommelier and trade attendees, will highlight a selection of these medal-winning wines. Finally, participants will have the option to peruse 13 wine tasting exhibitions nightly, ahead of the Grand Tasting and Awards Reception on the final evening of the conference.

The registration fee for TEXSOM 2019 is $525 and includes attendance in conference and educational seminars, lunches, access to networking suites, and admittance to the Grand Tasting and Awards Reception. Rooms are available at the conference venue and host hotel, Four Seasons Resort and Club Dallas at Las Colinas. About TEXSOM

TEXSOM was founded in 2005 as the Texas Sommelier Conference by Master Sommeliers (then Advanced Sommeliers) James Tidwell and Drew Hendricks to help promote professional wine service standards, outline paths for further beverage education and certification, and raise public awareness about professional standards and certifications for sommeliers. What began as an opportunity for Texas sommeliers to learn and train evolved into an international event for beverage professionals from all tiers of the industry to network and grow.
