October 28, 2025 (Turin, Italy) — At the beginning of October, the newly appointed Board of Directors of the Vermouth di Torino Consortium — renewed last June in Pollenzo during the Stati Generali del Vermouth di Torino — elected a new President: Bruno Malavasi, a professional with a long career in research and development, quality, and innovation within the Campari Group. Currently with Davide Campari Milano, he serves as Master of Botanicals, supporting research and innovation projects in the field of formulations and extracts based on medicinal plants.

Malavasi succeeds Roberto Bava of Giulio Cocchi, another historic Vermouth di Torino producer. Bava has been involved in every stage of the Consortium’s creation and served as its President from 2019 to 2025, having also been the first President of the former Istituto del Vermouth di Torino, which later merged into the current Consorzio di Tutela.
During his presidency, many milestones were achieved in the revival of Vermouth di Torino, with numerous initiatives for its promotion, protection, and communication both in Italy and abroad. He also played a key role in designing the Consortium’s complex management and control systems. At the end of his second term, although warmly encouraged by Members to continue, he emphasized the importance of renewal to preserve the energy of sound governance—essential for any organization, and especially for a Consortium of this kind. Bava will continue to contribute his experience by accepting the role of Vice President, ensuring continuity and ongoing collaboration.

Also confirmed as Vice President is Giorgio Castagnotti, formerly Operation Director at Martini & Rossi. The Executive Committee, which includes representatives of the Consortium’s working groups, will consist of Paola Facco of Branca/Carpano for Marketing and Pierstefano Berta as head of the Technical-Legal group.
The new President, Bruno Malavasi, stated: “I would like to express my sincere gratitude to my fellow Members for the trust they have placed in me by appointing me President of the Vermouth di Torino Consortium—an honor I deeply appreciate. My heartfelt thanks also go to the members of the previous Board of Directors, and in particular to Roberto Bava and Pierstefano Berta, to whom we all owe a great debt of gratitude for their passion and energy in founding and growing our Consortium and promoting the IGP Vermouth di Torino. One of the reasons I have accepted this new challenge is knowing that I can continue to rely on the expertise and support of Roberto and Pierstefano, as well as that of Vice President Giorgio Castagnotti and all members of this new Board. Much progress has been made over the years, but I believe many opportunities still lie ahead. It will be up to us to seize them and continue to share, in an engaging way, the cultural and historical value, professional skill, and creativity—tempered by tradition—that define the Vermouth di Torino Geographical Indication in all its diverse expressions.”
Regarding this new chapter in the life of the Consortium, Past President Roberto Bava commented:
“Our activities will continue in a spirit of continuity and growth. After eight years, the Consortium moves from its founding and youthful phase into maturity. Together with our excellent and indispensable Director, Pierstefano Berta, and the outgoing Board, we leave not only a sound financial situation but also a well-structured organization ready to guide the denomination through the growing complexity of controls and the protection of the IGP and its trademarks. Our membership works harmoniously toward shared goals, maintaining strong relationships with key institutions. I would like to thank our internal collaborators, external consultants, partner agencies, Federvini, Confindustria Asti and Torino, as well as all fellow Members and the many people and organizations that have supported us during this important chapter, culminating in official recognition by the Ministry of Agriculture—a great satisfaction and a fitting conclusion to my presidency.
“It’s always Vermouth di Torino time!”
