Quintessential Announces New Brand Manager and Jim Buckley’s Upcoming Retirement

NAPA, CALIF., April 2, 2025 – Quintessential, a renowned importer, marketer, and distributor of exclusively family-owned wineries and distilleries, is excited to announce the addition of Kimberly Utterback as their newest Brand Manager. Kimberly will be based in Napa and will bring her extensive marketing expertise to the company, stepping into the role soon to be vacated by Jim Buckley, who has announced his planned retirement in October 2025.

“We’re pleased to welcome Kimberly to the Quintessential family,” said Dennis Kreps, co-owner of Quintessential. “Her industry experience and fresh perspective will be invaluable. We’re also equally grateful for Jim Buckley’s leadership, and with his guidance during the transition, we’re confident Kimberly will build on his strong foundation and implement new systems to drive our future growth.”

Kimberly Utterback joins Quintessential with over a decade of experience in the wine industry. Her career began in rural Midwestern America, where sustainable agriculture and community farming were central to daily life. After earning a Bachelor of Arts degree from Purdue University, she worked on brand development and sales for a regional multi-generational producer. In 2019, she relocated to Napa Valley to further her expertise, taking on pivotal roles at several iconic Napa wineries. For the past five years, she has focused on brand management, working across both the supplier and importer sides, driving business development for renowned brands from Italy, France, Spain, and Argentina.

“I’m thrilled to join the Quintessential team,” said Utterback. “The company’s commitment to family-owned wineries and their passion for quality and craftsmanship aligns perfectly with my own values.”

Jim Buckley, who has been with Quintessential for 9 years, will retire in October 2025. His dedication has played a key role in the company’s growth, fostering deep relationships with distributor partners and suppliers, and strengthening Quintessential’s position in the marketplace.

“Jim’s legacy at Quintessential is immeasurable,” said Kreps. “He’s been an invaluable leader and trusted partner, and his contributions have laid the foundation for our continued success. We’re deeply grateful for his hard work and commitment.”
