WOODINVILLE, WA – (March 31, 2025) – Obelisco Estate Winery is proud to introduce Nefer, the latest addition to its acclaimed portfolio of Red Mountain wines. Designed for both the everyday wine lover and the dedicated connoisseur, Nefer is a beautifully balanced Bordeaux-style blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (72%), Merlot (20%), and Malbec (8%), offering richness, smoothness, and approachability in every glass.
Named in honor of the towering obelisks crafted by ancient artisans, Obelisco Estate Winery has always drawn inspiration from these enduring symbols of excellence. The III Nefer has long stood as the pinnacle of the winery’s offerings, a wine reserved for gods and pharaohs. Now, with Nefer, Obelisco introduces a more accessible yet equally masterful sibling—perfect for both weeknight pours and milestone toasts.
Obelisco Winemaker David Rosenthal adds, “Conceptually, we wanted to produce a wine that combines the exclusivity and luxury of Red Mountain with the accessibility of a moderately priced wine suitable for any occasion. That purpose and intent help guide the winemaking process. We produced a wine with opulence and decadence that is also balanced, food-friendly, and simply enjoyable.”
Crafted from 85% Obelisco Vineyard fruit and 15% Scootney Flats Vineyard fruit, Nefer showcases the best of Red Mountain terroir. Aged for 20 months in a mix of French and Hungarian oak, the wine presents classic Bordeaux characteristics. The Cabernet adds structure and dark berries, the Merlot brings red fruit and freshness, and the Malbec lends plum, and violet aromas, all with a velvety finish.
Balanced tannins and acidity make Nefer approachable upon release while still allowing for graceful aging over the next 3–7 years. The 2022 growing season presented challenges, with a late bud break following an April blizzard and a cooler-than-usual spring. However, a warm October provided ideal ripening conditions, resulting in a vintage defined by balance, finesse, and beautifully structured fruit.

Nefer will officially be released on April 1, 2025 and can be purchased at the launch event, Obelisco tasting rooms, online, or with select retailers.
