Meet us in Verona at Hall 9, Stand B17 to explore Morellino di Scansano DOCG from 42 producers. On Monday, April 7, and Tuesday, April 8, two press-only tastings will be held in collaboration with the Maremma Consortium, featuring pairings with traditional Maremma tortelli.
Scansano (GR), April 2025 – The Consorzio Morellino di Scansano will be one of the key participants at Vinitaly 2025, taking place in Verona from April 6 to 9. Forty-two wineries will present 63 labels at Hall 9, Stand B17. It will be a unique opportunity to explore the full range of Morellino di Scansano DOCG, from the fresh and approachable Annata version to the more structured and complex Riserva.

The event will also serve to preview exciting developments: the official process has begun for introducing the “Superiore” designation—an addition that will enrich the Morellino di Scansano offering. This new category will be distinguished by lower yields, extended aging, and enhanced elegance and depth, while maintaining the pleasant drinkability that characterizes the wine. It reflects the denomination’s ongoing pursuit of qualitative excellence.
President Bernardo Guicciardini Calamai and Director Alessio Durazzi will be present at the stand to meet with industry professionals, media, and wine lovers to discuss the present and future of Morellino.
“Vinitaly is an unmissable event for Morellino di Scansano, as it allows us to strengthen our position in the Italian market while also expanding internationally,” said Bernardo Guicciardini Calamai, President of the Consorzio Tutela Morellino di Scansano. “Following the success of Wine Paris, our participation in Verona is a strategic opportunity to connect with professionals and enthusiasts, showcasing the identity and versatility of a wine increasingly appreciated beyond national borders. Morellino perfectly embodies the spirit of the most authentic Tuscany, and its growth in international markets, as well as its repositioning within the upper mid-range segment of the domestic market, demonstrates the value and potential of this inimitable coastal Sangiovese.”
At Vinitaly, the Consortium will also host two press-only events celebrating Maremma cuisine. On Monday, April 7, and Tuesday, April 8, at the Morellino di Scansano stand, there will be tastings of Maremman tortelli, paired with Morellino di Scansano Annata DOCG, Morellino di Scansano Riserva DOCG, and Vermentino Superiore DOC Maremma Toscana. The tastings are organized in collaboration with the Consorzio Tutela Vini della Maremma Toscana and the Association for the Protection and Promotion of Maremman Tortello.
The tastings will be led by Chef Massimo Bucci on Monday 7, joined by Andrea Biondi, Provincial Director of Confesercenti Grosseto, and by Chefs Sandro Signori and Roberto Delli on Tuesday 8. The latter is Vice President of the Tortello Maremmano Association and owner of Pastai in Maremma.
