Jordan Lonborg to manage Organic, Biodynamic, and Regenerative Viticulture

March 27, 2025 – Reinforcing its dedication to the most advanced and sustainable farming and management practices for its clients, Coastal Vineyard Care Associates (CVCA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Jordan Lonborg to its vineyard consultancy and management team. In the newly created role of Regenerative Consultant and Manager of Organic, Biodynamic, and Regenerative Viticulture, Lonborg’s expertise underscores CVCA’s forward-thinking commitment to the success of the vineyards they manage and the clients they serve.
“Jordan’s passion for viticulture and our joint belief that organic and regenerative farming is the future of California viticulture is an absolute shared vision. This mutual vision includes having successfully phased out glyphosate across all of the vineyards we manage, improving soil health, enhancing grape and wine quality, and ensuring long-term vineyard resilience,” said Ben Merz, Co-owner of Coastal Vineyard Care Associates. He continued, “We couldn’t be more proud to announce Jordan’s decision to join CVCA, and we’re energized as we think about the future of farming winegrapes.”
Jordan’s career began at Monterey Pacific Inc., managing nearly 4,000 vineyard acres. Over his tenure, he progressed from Viticulture Technician to Pest Control Advisor and eventually to Viticulturist. In 2016, he joined Tablas Creek Vineyard, where he played a key role in managing the estate’s 280-acre property, overseeing estate operations, grower relations, and sustainability programs. He was instrumental in piloting the Regenerative Organic Certified® (ROC) program, helping shape the standard. This work culminated in Tablas Creek becoming the first vineyard in the world to achieve ROC certification. In recent years, Jordan has also consulted with vineyard owners wanting to transition to regenerative viticulture. CVCA will make his services available statewide. Jordan holds a degree in Fruit Science from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.
“What motivates me in my role at CVCA is the potential of transforming California viticulture, moving beyond chemical dependency to embrace organic and regenerative practices on a significant scale. It’s about fostering a deep respect for the land and, crucially, for the health and well-being of the people who work it. This isn’t just about better grapes; it’s about a better way of farming for everyone involved,” said Lonborg.
Meeting the needs of the end consumer is a key challenge in today’s wine market. To stand out, winemakers and brands will likely find their tipping point by focusing on the highest grape quality, sustainability, and transparency.
