March 20, 2025 — On 19 May 2025, the international wine guide Star Wine List will celebrate the great wine lists of Switzerland, in person, for the first time – and entries are now open.
Star Wine List has previously recognised Swiss wine lists in its international awards tour with a digital event in 2021 and a combined Austria-Germany-Switzerland celebration in 2024. For 2025, there will be a ceremony in Zurich where the sommeliers responsible for the best wine lists in the country will be presented with Gold Stars.
“We are very excited to come to Zurich, and indeed Switzerland, for the first time for a celebration in person. We look forward to highlighting the great work of sommeliers and restaurateurs across the country!” says Krister Bengtsson, Founder and Publisher of Star Wine List.
Star Wine List of the Year is a celebration of the great wine lists in the world and the teams behind them. At the Swiss wine list awards, Gold Stars will be awarded in 10 international categories including the best long, medium and short wine lists, plus sparkling and by-the-glass selections, with a special category for sustainability. The winners will qualify for the Star Wine List of the Year International Final, to be held in Vienna in June 2025.
Restaurants and bars across Switzerland have until Sunday 30 March 2025 to register for these awards. Entries are free of charge, like all of the Star Wine List of the Year competitions.

The jury
The expert jury for Star Wine List of the Year Switzerland 2025 will be composed of top sommeliers and wine professionals from the world of wine. The names will be announced shortly.

- Best Long List – for wine lists with more than 600 references
- Best Medium-Sized List – 200-600 references
- Best Short List – fewer than 200 references
- Best By the Glass List
- Best Sparkling Wine List
- Best Newcomer List
- Sustainable Wine List – for this category, we evaluate not just the wine list but also the actions of the venue throughout their wine program, as stated by the team via questionnaire
- Best Austrian Wine List, presented by Austrian Wine
- Best California Wine List, presented by Pahlmeyer
