February 27, 2025 (Paso Robles, CA) — Midnight Cellars, a family-owned winery in Paso Robles, is celebrating three decades of dedication, craftsmanship, and the relentless pursuit of quality winemaking. Founded in 1995 by the Hartenberger family, Midnight Cellars was built from the ground up – vine by vine, barrel by barrel – into the respected winery it is today.
For second-generation owner and Director of Winemaking Rich Hartenberger, the journey has been anything but easy. It has meant long days in the vineyard, harvest seasons that stretched into the early hours, and a commitment to doing things the right way rather than the easy way.
“Winemaking isn’t just about the finished bottle – it’s about the labor, the land, and the decisions you make every single day,” says Hartenberger. “It’s pruning in the winter, walking the vineyard in the summer heat, making the call on when to pick. It’s being covered in grape skins at 2 AM, exhausted but pushing through because you know the work you put in now is what makes the wine worth drinking later. Midnight Cellars was never a vanity project. It was, and still is, about getting our hands dirty, making honest wines, and building something that lasts.”
Since its founding, Midnight Cellars has remained a true family business, with a deep respect for the Paso Robles region and its ability to produce bold, expressive wines. Over the years, the winery has grown while staying true to its roots, producing well-structured wines that reflect the character of the land.
To mark this milestone, Midnight Cellars is inviting its friends, supporters, and the local community to a 30th anniversary celebration on March 15, 2025. The event will take place at the winery’s tasting room at 2925 Anderson Road and will feature live music, great wine, and the return of Carson’s famous Chicago-style rib night.
The celebration is a tribute to the loyal supporters and community members who have been integral to the winery’s journey over the past three decades.
