Visionary Pastry Chef Brings Inventive, Seasonal Delicacies to Sonoma’s Iconic Winery Estate

Healdsburg, Calif. (January 30, 2025) – Jordan Vineyard & Winery—the certified sustainable producer of European-style chardonnay and cabernet sauvignon wines in Sonoma County’s Alexander Valley—is pleased to announce the appointment of Lisa Lu to the position of Pastry Chef. Chef Lu brings her passion, expertise and artistic flair to the winery’s robust culinary program, where she continues to craft seasonal, innovative desserts that complement Jordan’s elegant wines and enhance the overall guest experience.
In her new role, Chef Lu oversees the creation of signature desserts for Jordan’s daily tours and tastings in addition to exclusive members-only and public events and seasonally curated culinary programs. Drawing inspiration from Jordan’s bountiful 1,200-acre estate, Chef Lu incorporates estate-grown ingredients—including fresh produce from the Chef’s Garden, estate olive oil and Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay—into her creations. Highlights include her Meyer Lemon Tarte and cabernet-infused roasted apples, showcasing the synergy between Jordan’s farm-forward ethos and Chef Lu’s pastry expertise.
“I am honored to join the incredibly talented team at Jordan, and to have the opportunity to showcase the abundance of Healdsburg through the lens of the winery’s unique estate,” commented Lu. “As a Sonoma County resident, I am particularly excited to continue working in my own backyard, and to welcome guests for a truly unforgettable wine country experience that connects the food on their plates with Jordan’s storied history, world-class hospitality, elegant wines and breathtaking setting.”
Chef Lu began her culinary journey with a passion for chocolate-making, which ultimately led her to pursue a career in pastry, a pivot from her work in architecture. She honed her craft at prestigious Bay Area restaurants, including Aqua, Boulevard, Jardiniere, Michael Mina and Quince, before serving as Executive Pastry Chef at The Matheson in downtown Healdsburg. Her move to Jordan represents a new chapter, embracing the opportunity to merge her culinary artistry with Jordan’s bespoke offerings, while embracing the new challenge of working in the world of wine.
At Jordan, Chef Lu works closely with Executive Chef Jesse Mallgren and the hospitality team to elevate the estate’s culinary offerings. Her desserts play a key role in seasonal programs like the Estate Tour & Tasting, Chef’s Terrace Tasting and other festive annual events, where her inventive and whimsical creations delight guests and reinforce Jordan’s commitment to culinary excellence.
“Chef Lu’s talent, dedication and creativity have already elevated our culinary program in a significant way,” said John Jordan, Chief Executive Officer at Jordan Vineyard & Winery. “Her ability to craft desserts that perfectly balance our wines, while reflecting the seasonality of our estate is unmatched. We are pleased to see Chef Lu’s passion thrive in this essential role and look forward to her continuing to create unforgettable experiences for our guests for years to come.”
