Christie’s Wine Department Final Auctions of the Season Achieved $2.6 Million

Fine and Rare Wines including Vintage Icons from a West Coast Cellar and Historic Port from the Cellars of Raby Castle

LOS ANGELES— Christie’s Wine department in America is pleased to announce the results of Pristine Bordeaux Classics: The Directors Collection and Fine and Rare Wines Including Vintage Icons from a West Coast Cellar and Historic Port from the Raby Castle Collection. In total, the two sales achieved $2,614,251 and were 88% sold by lot. The sales saw global participation with 74% of buyers from the Americas, 12% EMEA, and 15% APAC.

Chris Munro, Head of Department, Americas Fine Wine & Spirits, commented: “A tremendous close to 2024 capping a successful year for wine sales in Los Angeles. With over 700 lots of Bordeaux offered across our two auctions it was satisfying to see lots consistently outperform their pre-sale estimates.  A rare full case of Le Pin 2009 made an impressive $40,000, whilst a six pack of Petrus 2009 hammered down for $20,000. Other highlights included strong prices for rare port from the cellars of Raby Castle – Taylor 1948 performing particularly well against the pre-sale estimate. Madeira continues to draw in bidders as nineteenth century bottles continued to perform well single bottles of Blandy’s Sercial 1875 Grabham’s bottling making $1,625.”

Pristine Bordeaux Classics: The Directors Collection totaled $1,096,688. The top lot of the sale were 12 bottles of Le Pin 2009, which achieved $40,000. Additional highlights include 6 bottles of Petrus 2009, which realized $20,000, and 6 bottles of Château Ausone 2009, which realized $3,250, doubling its low estimate.

Fine and Rare Wines Including Vintage Icons from a West Coast Cellar and Historic Port from the Raby Castle Collection achieved $1,517,563. Leading the sale were 2 bottles of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Romanée-Conti 1991, from Vintage Icons from a West Coast Cellar, which realized $32,500. Other notable results come from 12 bottles of Château Lafite Rothschild 1982, which realized $25,000, 12 bottles of Petrus 1986, which realized $21,250 and 2 bottles of Taylor 1948 from Raby Castle Port, which realized $3,250.
