December 4, 2024 – Darren Rathbone, CEO and Winemaker for Australia-based Rathbone Wine Group, is proud to announce that the 2022 Yering Station Village Pinot Noir (SRP $25) has earned a coveted spot on Wine Spectator Magazine’s Top 100 Wines of 2024 list. This wine from Yarra Valley, Victoria, was the only Pinot Noir from Australia to make the Top 100, and one of two Australian wines featured on this year’s list.
Each year, Wine Spectator editors survey the wines reviewed over the previous 12 months and select their Top 100; a selection of iconic wineries, top values and emerging brands, based on quality, value, availability and excitement.
“We are incredibly proud to have the 2022 Yering Station Village Pinot Noir recognized as one of Wine Spectator’s Top 100 Wines of 2024,” says Darren Rathbone. “The Yarra Valley has long been known for producing exceptional Pinot Noir and this accolade is a testament to the dedication of our team. Over the past several years, we have fine-tuned our approach to winemaking paying close attention to every detail from the vineyard to cellar. The result is a wine that captures the distinctive style of the Yarra Valley and reflects what the cool climate region does best–bright, vibrant fruit flavours which speak for themselves.”
Yering Station is the crown jewel of the Yarra Valley. With vines first planted in 1838, Yering Station is proudly Victoria’s first vineyard. Today, under the leadership of the Rathbone family who purchased the winery in 1996 and Brendan Hawker as chief winemaker, Yering Station has emerged as one of the most respected producers of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in Australia. Presently, the estate comprises five vineyard sites across Yarra Glen and Coldstream sub-regions, with 12 varieties planted to more than 27 clones. Spanning elevations from 150 to 1500 ft, these sites benefit from the influence of the Great Dividing Range and a diverse makeup of soil profiles. Leading the winemaking team with passion and integrity, Chief Winemaker Brendan Hawker is dedicated to crafting wines that authentically express their origin, cultivation and vintage.
Sustainability is woven into every aspect of Yering Station’s operations. Certified by Sustainable Winegrowing Australia, the national program for grape growers and winemakers to enhance their sustainability practices, the team is always seeking out ways to implement new and innovative sustainability practices in both the vineyards and the winery.

About Wine Spectator’s Top 100 Most Exciting Wines of 2024
Wine Spectator is the world’s leading authority on wine. The Top 100 list has been an annual highlight since 1988, showcasing the best of wine from the past year, wineries worth watching in the future, and the producers and wines that Wine Spectator’s editors are most enthusiastic about. The 100 bottles were chosen from over 10,500 wines reviewed in blind tastings by Wine Spectator’s editors. Selections are based on four criteria: quality (based on score), value (based on price), availability (based on the number of cases made or imported into the U.S.) and the “X-factor”—a compelling story and excitement behind the wine.
