November 19, 2024 — LWC, the UK’s largest independent drinks wholesaler and wine specialist has partnered with Maison Jean Loron to launch the limited-edition ‘Bon Pote’ Beaujolais Nouveau.
Bottled often just weeks after the harvest, Beaujolais Nouveau is one of the first wines coming to market each year, released with celebration on Beaujolais Nouveau Day – the third Thursday in November – which this year falls on the 21st.
Bon Pote Beaujo Carbo is vibrant and fresh, with flavours of ripe red berry fruit and blackcurrant. A typical example of the fun, fruity reds produced from the Gamay grape that are released as nouveau wines, and best enjoyed in their youth, within six months of bottling.
Frances Bentley, Wine Buyer at LWC commented: “LWC is delighted to be reigniting the excitement around Beaujolais Nouveau in the UK, with the launch of Bon Pote.
“Although Beaujolais Nouveau is still a significant event in the wine world’s calendar, especially in its homeland of France, the UK has gone a little quiet on it in recent years. With fewer releases and events, it seems unfair when there is so much to celebrate. So, this year LWC is bringing it back.
“A large and important appellation, producing an array of incredible wines, we want to put the spotlight back on Beaujolais and 2024’s Beaujolais Nouveau. We’d like to encourage the on-trade to get behind Beaujolais Nouveau, have some fun, and use Thursday the 21st November as an opportunity to immerse consumers into the world of wine and everything the new harvest has to offer.
“Leading the charge are our enthusiastic team of Wine Development Managers, who’ll be hosting lunchtime tastings across each of our 18 depots, for LWC colleagues to get a taste of this iconic and fun wine. They’ll also be ready, on call, for any last-minute customer requests that come through.
“What’s really exciting to see is that LWC has already received a record number of pre-orders for this year’s Nouveau release, helped in no small part by our recent strategic partnership with Glamorgan Brewing Company. Beaujolais Nouveau Day remains a hugely anticipated and popular celebration in the on-trade in South Wales, so it’s great to be able to play a part in the celebrations taking place over the border.”
Although French rules mean this wine can’t be consumed before 00:01 on Thursday 21st, LWC now has this wine stocked in its depots in very limited quantities, ready for release, and anyone interested should contact their local depot or Wine Development Manager.
For more information on LWC’s wine portfolio or services, please contact your local depot who will be more than happy to help.
