Areni Global Becomes a Research and Industry Associate of the Institute of Masters of Wine

LONDON, UK, 16 SEPTEMBER 2024 — The Institute of Masters of Wine (IMW) is proud to announce Areni Global has become an official research and industry associate. The agreement between the IMW and the global independent think tank builds on their joint mission to promote excellence and learning across the wine community, with plans for enhanced knowledge exchange between the two bodies and collaboration on a public events programme among the initiatives being considered.

Alongside these higher profile activities, the relationship forges new links between Areni Global and the Masters of Wine study programme, providing students with expanded access to cutting edge research, perspectives and opinion from one of the wine world’s foremost thought leadership platforms, while providing Areni with enhanced access to insights from the future leaders of the wine industry.

Areni Global Executive Director Pauline Vicard commented: “The Institute of Masters of Wine embodies excellence in education, knowledge and expertise. It has been a beacon in the world of wine for more than 70 years and will continue to play a crucial role in the years to come. About the Institute of Masters of Wine (IMW)
The IMW is a membership organisation with an exceptional international reputation. For more than 70 years, its members – the Masters of Wine (MWs) – have been at the forefront of leadership and expertise in the world of wine. The IMW’s mission is to promote excellence, interaction and learning across all sectors of the global wine community. MWs prove their comprehensive understanding of wine by passing the MW exam, recognised worldwide for its rigour and exacting standards. In addition to passing the exam, members must sign the code of conduct before they are entitled to use the initials MW. This requires them to uphold the highest standards of commercial conduct within the industry. Today, there are 421 Masters of Wine working in 30 countries. The membership encompasses winemakers, sommeliers, buyers, journalists, shippers, consultants, viticulturalists, academics, educators and more. There are 367 students from 40 countries in the 2023-24 MW study programme. The IMW works with 36 supporters and four research and industry associates, who help promote the IMW’s mission. The five principal supporters are Austrian Wine, AXA Millésimes, Champagne Bollinger, Constellation Brands and VSPT Wine Group.
