Twenty-five individuals from around the world attempted the Master Sommelier Diploma Examination this week proctored by the Court of Master Sommeliers, Americas. Out of the twenty-five hopeful candidates, Trapp successfully met the qualifications and has earned the prestigious title of Master Sommelier from one of the world’s leading wine organizations.

“Achieving the Master Sommelier title signifies the pinnacle of accomplishment within the hospitality industry, and we are proud to welcome another talented professional to our ranks. Myles’ hard work has truly paid off, and this achievement is a testament to the dedication, passion, and perseverance he has shown throughout this journey,” said Michael Meagher, Chair of the Court of Master Sommeliers, Americas.

The Master Sommelier Diploma Examination consists of three sections: a verbal theory examination, a deductive blind tasting assessment of six classic wines, and a practical component that focuses on hospitality, beverage service, salesmanship, and overall business acumen. Candidates must receive passing scores in each section to earn the highly coveted Master Sommelier title.

“We extend our heartfelt congratulations to our new member! This achievement reflects not only his personal commitment, but also the strength of our educational programs and support systems,” said Julie Cohen Theobald, Executive Director of the Court of Master Sommeliers, Americas. “In addition to the success of our new Master Sommelier, we were excited to observe a notably high pass rate at our Advanced level, including 38 new Advanced Sommeliers and 100% pass rate among 12 women, a promising indicator for the future. The success shown at this level reflects the strides our organization has taken in enhancing student preparation through comprehensive education, robust publishing of resources, expanded access to mentorship, and increased transparency. These initiatives have clearly made a transformative impact, shown by the outstanding performance of our candidates.”

The induction of this Master Sommelier highlights the ongoing success and growth of the organization’s educational and mentorship programs. The CMS-A remains committed to fostering the next generation of wine professionals through its comprehensive resources, transparent processes, and supportive network.
