Napa, CA (August 26, 2024) – The Napa County Farm Bureau is pleased to announce the hiring of Peter Rumble as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Rumble, a seasoned leader with extensive experience in local government, policy advocacy, and collaborative problem-solving, is set to assume his new role shortly after Labor Day.
The Farm Bureau’s Board of Directors believes Rumble’s diverse background and proven track record make him ideally suited to lead the organization in its mission to protect farmers, support members, and ensure the continued viability of Napa’s agricultural sector.
Peter Rumble joins the Farm Bureau following a successful tenure as CEO of the Santa Rosa Metro Chamber of Commerce (SRMC). During his time at SRMC, Rumble spearheaded numerous innovative initiatives that yielded significant benefits for both chamber members and the broader community.
Key Accomplishments at SRMC:
Pioneered the nation's first Chamber of Commerce-run affordable housing loan fund, recognized as the best program by the Western Association of Chamber Executives.
Developed an Employee Supported Childcare program, garnering national attention and resulting in two White House invitations to present the model.
Established the Santa Rosa Downtown Action Organization, a non-profit Community Benefit District (CBD), and assumed management of Courthouse Square events to enhance downtown arts and culture.
Secured hosting rights for the Sonoma Business Development Center (SBDC), previously based in Napa, providing free counseling and training to local entrepreneurs.
Expanded destination marketing efforts through the Visit Santa Rosa program, targeting new tourism sectors.
Crafted the Chamber's inaugural 5-year strategic plan.
Led COVID-19 relief efforts, becoming the first organization in the county to distribute financial assistance to small businesses and serving as a clearinghouse for disaster relief funds
Under Rumble’s leadership, SRMC also achieved financial stability, replenishing reserves and maintaining clean audits throughout his tenure.
Lisa Wittke Schaffner, CEO of the North Coast Builders Exchange and SRMC Board Chair, praised Rumble’s contributions: “Our Board is deeply grateful for the successes the chamber and our business community have realized under Peter’s leadership. He was a champion for policies to allow for more housing, fought for our small business community during the pandemic and beyond, and created programs that are having an incredible, positive impact – he will be sorely missed.”
Peter Nissen, President of the Napa County Farm Bureau, expressed enthusiasm about the appointment: “The Farm Bureau and its Board of Directors are excited to have a person with such diverse experience and accomplishments lead the Farm Bureau in a new direction. We look forward to continued collaboration with our elected leaders and other agricultural organizations that care so much for our community and our rural character. There is no doubt Peter Rumble is the right person to lead our efforts.”
Rumble’s hiring comes at a critical time for Napa County’s agricultural sector, which faces evolving challenges related to climate change, water resource management, and sustainable farming practices and the upcoming Napa County General Plan. His proven ability to forge partnerships and drive innovative solutions is expected to strengthen the Farm Bureau’s continued position as a leading advocate for the region’s agricultural interests.
Peter Rumble is set to begin his new position in September.
