Inn at Occidental Opens Public Wine Bar Featuring Wines of West Sonoma County

OCCIDENTAL, CA, August 6, 2024 – The Inn at Occidental is pleased to announce the Grand Opening of its new wine bar as of Tuesday, August 13, 2024. Owners Matthew and Victoria Meblin purchased the inn in March 2024 and immediately began working to create a wine bar experience to integrate the inn with the Sonoma County wine culture. Because of its location on the edge of the Sonoma County AVAs of Russian River Valley, Green Valley, Sonoma Coast, and Petaluma Gap, the inn serves as an ideal launching pad from which guests will venture out to discover wines to enjoy. The focus of the wine bar inventory will be exclusively on wines located within a few short miles of the inn. This selection of neighboring wineries has been carefully curated to showcase both stellar Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays, as well as some interesting lesser known varietals that are worthy of highlighting.

“As longtime wine lovers and collectors, we were excited to open a wine bar within the inn and provide a space for guests and community members to enjoy the wines of Sonoma County,” said Matthew Meblin. As the Meblins reached out to nearby wineries, they were delighted to find outstanding quality wines and winery partners who welcomed and supported the wine bar concept. “Having spent countless weekends in Occidental during my youth, I am overjoyed to see the Inn at Occidental introducing a wine bar that exclusively showcases the exceptional wines of West Sonoma County. This new venue is a testament to our region’s dedication to quality and innovation in winemaking. We’re incredibly fortunate to have this exciting new addition to the neighborhood,” said John Balletto, the founder of Balletto Vineyards.

The inn aims to become a central hub for guests and community members alike to sample wines, and choose their favorites to purchase. There are some well known must-try Sonoma County wineries on the wine list. Additionally, several winery partners are smaller producers, offering wine bar patrons the ability to discover in one location multiple hidden gems. Balletto Vineyards, Boheme Wines, Bowman Cellars, Breathless Sparkling Wines, Char Vale Winery, DRNK Wines, Dutton-Goldfield, Freeman Winery, Furthermore Wines, Marimar Estate, Merry Edwards, Taft Street Winery, and Vinas Zurinaga are each a part of the growing list of winery partners to be featured in the new wine bar.

The Inn at Occidental Wine Bar will be open from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesdays to Sundays at 3657 Church Street, Occidental, CA. Please visit innatoccidental.com/wine-bar for more information.
