Widely recognized for its trailblazing focus on selling its wine to consumers en premier, Del Dotto is marking 30 years of winemaking by offering its Family Reserve Library Tasting for platinum members; its signature Cave & Barrel Tasting Experience and Del Dotto Delicacies (Piazza Del Dotto’s culinary program) are open to all by appointment.

Largely a Cabernet Sauvignon house, Del Dotto Estate Winery & Caves was founded in 1988 by Dave Del Dotto whose name is rooted in winemaking with a heritage dating back to 1150 in Venice. Dave continued the Del Dotto legacy when he bought the original Rutherford Estate where he began by planting new rootstock of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Sangiovese; 1993 marked Del Dotto’s first vintage. Since then, he has acquired 67 planted acres of vines in Napa Valley that feature iconic Napa AVAs, including Oakville, St. Helena and Howell Mountain; Del Dotto also holds 41 acres in the Fort Ross-Seaview AVA on the Sonoma Coast, which includes the prized Cinghiale Vineyard, renowned for producing world-class Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Del Dotto Estate Winery & Caves is certified by the California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance and while not certified, also practices organic farming.

Del Dotto has become known for its unique customer experiences in their two Italian inspired properties where they host small groups of visitors in their caves and sample directly from the wine barrels, with a winemaking tool known as a wine thief, while highlighting the many different types of barrels and how they influence the wines taste and how it will age.

Desirée Del Dotto, Chief Operating Office and Second Generation Vintner reflects on the winery’s milestone, ”We have been doing this for 30 years, yet sometimes I still feel we are a new kid on the block. I think it’s because we continue to focus and fine tune everything we do. I am a firm believer in you can always do better. The details are what separates good from great, and you are always learning in this business.”

She continues,”The most rewarding aspect of this work is knowing that our wine becomes part of so many people’s special moments. It’s wonderful to think that something we make here is a big part of so many monumental occasions. I have customers tell me incredible stories about our wines and special moments that are so important to them. I love hearing their stories and knowing that we played a small roleOur customers are such an important part of our success.”
